sorry i dont know much. But it was a very slow song, with not much instruments to it(almost like a light symphony in the background), and i heard it on a classic rock station and the only part of the chorus i remember what that it said "the night" a lot. lol sorry i dont know much.

actually i dont think it was pink floyd, but it was a very slow soothin song, like a mix of slow symphony/opera and like pink floyd comofortably numb. very little instrumentals and one guy singing the whole time.

Just something that came in mind, when you say "soothing":
The Doors - End of the night

Do you believe the word used was "night" or "knight"?

    It could have been knight.

The melody is kind of rise and fall a little but it is still very slow. Very little instruments.

Here Comes the Night by Van Morrison?

    Whoa, here it comes
    Here comes the night
    Here comes the night
    Whoa-whoa-whoa-yeah

I could see right out my window
Walkin down the street, my girl
    With another guy

    His arm around her
Like it used to be with me
Whoa, it makes me want to die-i

    Yeah-yeah-yeah
    Well, here it comes
    Here comes the night
    Here comes the night
    Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-yeah

    There they go
Its funny how they look so good together
Wonder what is wrong with me?
Why cant i, accept the fact shes chosen him
    And simply let them be?
    Whoa-whoa-whoa

    Well, here it comes
    Here comes the night
    Here comes the night
    Whoa-whoa-whoa-yeah

Shes with him hes turning down the lights
    And now hes holding her
The way I used to do

I could see, her closing her eyes
    And tellin him lies
Exactly like she told me, too
    Yeah-yeah-yeah

    Well, here it comes
    Here comes the night
The long, the long and lonely night night, night, night, night, night, night
    Fades-
    Whoa, here comes the night
The long, the long, the long and lonely night

Nope. Just one singer. A guy with a calm voice, something like pink floyd like in "wish you were here" except deeper.

Since you heard it on a "classic rock" radio station, I gonner assume that Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Music Of The Night" (from the Phathom of the Opera musical) and Frank Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night" are both out of the running.

For some really serious wild guessing, try the following "classic rock" songs:

"Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues
"Gemini Dream" by The Moody Blues
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by The Band
"C’est La Vie" by Emerson Lake & Palmer
"The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace
"End of The Night" by The Doors
"Red Skies at Night" by The Fixx
"Rockin' Into The Night" by 38 Special
"Hold On To The Night" by Richard Marx
"All Day And All Of The Night" by The Kinks
"Tonight's the Night" by Neil Young (not the same song as Rod Stewart's)
"Lets Spend The Night Together" by Rolling Stones
    "Shakin' by Eddie Money
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

The phantom of the opera does resemble the song a lot. Much like it.

Yeah the radio station plays music from the 70's and 80's, and some 60's but i know its not that old.
