Solved: Heard sung by Pete Seeger in the mid-1960s.
As a boy in the 1960s, I heard this song performed by Pete Seeger on a reel to reel tape- a song collection that one of my sisters had. No one of us can remember the title, composer, or all of the words. These are the lyrics that I remember:
She said "wait just a minute till I get my shoes".
My heart gave a leap as I heard the glad news.
How I flew to the door saying "I hope you'll excuse,
My simplicity over the mountain".
It was then when the Moon had sunk in the West.
The Morning Star brightly was shining.
It was then we went on with our journey in haste,
On that trip we took over the mountain.
.... The anger of marriage was soon sped away.
Now we oftentimes talk when we've little to say,
Of that trip we took over the mountain.
.... at the altar of ....
For the past forty years I've been wondering what the song's name is , who wrote
it, and in particular, what the missing lyrics are. I remember the tune.
Any help with this quest will be deeply appreciated.
