Reggae Search: 'New Situation' and 'Noticeboard'
Hello, everyone. I've got two songs that it's been killing me to find.
(1) 'New Situation'. This song I know from an old 45 my dad had in the 70s. I think this is the title (the B-side might have been 'New Dub'). I don't know the artist(s), but I remember the lyrics in fragments. Part of the first verse goes something like:
'Yu noh hear weh mi hear seh, check out the new situation'.
The second verse begins:
'The more you live, the more you learn;
Old-time people say
What a way to dash it weh'
or something similar. My dad died three years ago and we kids have been trying to compile his oldies. This song is an old-style reggae classic, and it would mean a lot to find it.
(2) 'Noticeboard'. This one strictly for me! I heard it in the 90s. It's a dancehall tune. I admit that 'Noticeboard' may not be the title, and I don't know the singer. But part of it goes:
'Come read the board,
Unu come read the noticeboard.
Unu will see
Who a bad, bad, bad bwoy outta road.'
I hope the lyrics as I've tried to write them, to either of these songs, make sense to someone! Thanks for your help.
