Norwegian Black Metal band name help

someone told me that there was a Norwegian black metal band, whose seriously messed up, their album cover is a picture of one of the band mates who blew his brains out, anyone know the name of said messed up band?

The album, Dawn of the Black Hearts, was a bootleg. The band did not actually release an official album with a picture of their dead band-mate (although one of them did take the picture).

Yeah, I read up on them a little bit. They were totally messed up... I thought it was kinda weird that none of the original members were in the band when it ended.

Also, I've heard of a Swedish metal band that sings songs about vikings and the battlefield, any ideas who these guys are?

Yeah, allegedly it was the guitarist who took the picture, but it was stolen or something like that, and ended up as the cover of this live bootleg.

your just oh so helpful, thanks a ton. I thought it sounded cool because one of my friends told me he let someone listen to them and they said they were the most satanic thing they'd ever heard, but there is nothing satanic about them, their just dudes singing about vikings.. and that's AWESOME!

Maybe he meant Bathory then. The band doesn't exist anymore though, as Quorthon, the founder and song writer of Bathory died from heart failure in 2004.

Amon Amarth released a new album a few days ago. Not bad at all.

A lot of Scandinavian bands sing about Vikings as that's their mythology and way of life.

I was unaware of this fact, I should probably ask him which band it was specifically.

The vikings were from Scandinavia so alot of Scandinavian people have viking mythology and relgion in their beliefs...
