Default Solved: Song I've been trying to find for a while.

I've heard this song many times on the radio over the years but have never been able to catch the name or the artist of the song.

    Here's all I know:

    -it's a male singing
-it used to be on the radio quite a bit 5-7 years ago

The song starts off with a symphony-type sound (violins playing). A piano then begins softly playing and there's a soft beat (drums or whatever) and the violins stop. The only words that I remember hearing (not even words, because I can't understand what he's saying) is a repeated loop of "hey" and "hooah." (or is it "ooah"??)

If you have ANY idea what this song is, even if you think you're totally off, please post it anyways.

Just a random guess ... The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

No, it's not that song, however the violin-type intro is similar.

The song 1997 by Smashing Pumpkins in a way reminded me of the song. Maybe because both songs are kind of "odd" in that they're different than most songs that I've ever heard of.

Thanks very much for the attempt though!

You take the next suggestion right out of my mouth ... so I guess you've already tried Tonight Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins

Not sure if these guys have been popular enough for more than a couple of radio plays ... McFly - All about you -- actually first time I hear this song, while I would call the other two as well known. And the last song is not 5-7 years old.

    Overture - Patrick Wolf

    No, it's none of those.

You've got the right idea, though.

    Thanks for the attempts.

Ok, I do kinda think I am totally off, because one has no piano and the other starts with piano and not violin, but I'll give it a go anyway... 2 options that I thought of are:
    Ian Brown - F.E.A.R.
    Sigur Ros - Hoppi Polla
Probably not it, but let's just think of it as narrowing it down then...

    No, it's neither.

F.E.A.R. has a similar violin intro, though.

    Thanks anyways.

Another thing that might help someone figure out what song this is:

I don't recall there actually being much (if any) actual singing.

Well the lyrics remind me of "Hey Ya" by Outkast
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    Wild guess...
"Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith.

The fact that you say there's a loop of "hey" in it automatically makes me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePyRrb2-fzs (the song starts kind of lateish into the video)

But it's much too recent, and there's no violin.

The symphony violin makes me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE

    But that just came out.

Is it similar to either of those?

No, it's neither of those either.

The distant-sounding "hey"s in Apologize are similar to the sound of the "hey"s and "ooh ahs" made in the song I'm looking for.

The song is a lot slower than Viva La Vida (the speed of the violin-type intro in Viva La Vida is much faster than in the song I'm looking for).

Another thing that I might add is that the sound of the "hey"s and "ooh ah"s are as distant-sounding as the voice of the singer from the Killers in many of his songs.

    Thanks anyways.

Thanks for telling us! I did not think that this would ever be solved after the list we came up with.

    Haha, no problem.

Yeah, I'm glad I finally found the song.
