a folk song possibly?

Hi,

there's this song i'm trying to find, and i only have a translated lyrics that go (the meaning, not the actual words) something like

"freedom is a promise of happiness and a gift, and finally even a long hard road brings you home

when i've travelled for a long time through a quiet evening, an ending day, i bring home a tired one..."


it some old song (older than 1980s), possibly a folk song or a children's song... known at least in US

i know this isn't much information, but i would be most grateful for any answers!

My wild guess is "The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles
