Anyone remember this song from 1972? A pop. rock number that ends up sounding more pop than rock, but with some good vocals on it. I can't remember the name of the group and would love to find a copy of this song to add to my list of "found music". Thanks in advance....aloha!

Is that the exact title or a group of lyrics.

    Male or Female.

How can you be sure it's 1972 ?

    Just need more clues.

"Drift Away" - Doby Grey was in 1973

That is the exact title of the song and I know it was released in 1972 -- late summer, early fall -- here in Hawaii, but it may have been released a few months before that, since it sometimes takes a little longer for a song to make it out our way. It's definitely not Dobie Gray's song, and if there are any other guitarists or musicians out there, this song revolved around major7 chords, unlike "Drift Away". I know that the last lines of the song repeated, and it was, "You've been running 'round with somebody else", or something very close to that. It was a male singing lead, but this was a group effort, I believe, not a solo artist. It never made the top 20 in Hawaii, so it probably just bubbled on the billboard list somewhere at the bottom and never went much higher than that. I'd love to connect with anyone who even remembers this song, let alone someone with a copy of it, and if you know this song, you're really, really good as far as having an ear for obscure music of the past. Mahalo!!!
