could it be Posession by Sarah McLachlan? she's a girl and the lyrics are similar...dunno if it was made in the 90s though...

Just signed on and was looking for a song title myself. Thought Gil would like to know the album as well. If radio would get its act together, this forum would not really be necessary, but here goes.

Once upon a galaxy 20 years ago, I heard a band that sounded very much like The Cure. Lyric of the chorus is: "No one can ever take your place" Any ideas?
