Solved: 70's soul group, like Jacksons

Ok, this song has been in my head so long that I am beginning to think it never existed and I just made it up. The song is by a 70's group like the Jacksons but I think had a female in it. It thought it was by the Stairsteps but guess I was wrong.

Some of the lyrics are:

Individuality is a must

Chorus

Later in the song more lyrics are:
"You got to know who you are baby
In this cold hard world, in this cold hard world
Yeah, Yeah"

Of course I thought the song was I know myself but of course it's not not easy. The song came out between 1970-78 I would say, someone please help me. It is a soul/funky kind of mid-tempo song. I need the name and group name.
