A soft rock/country-ish song?

I heard this the other day, and not being able to identify the song is killing me! It's a male artist, and the song sounds like it could have been made in the 80s or late 70s, or it could be a modern song with a throwback vibe. It was very melodic, and I strongly remember hearing a guitar.

I think I remember the phrase "let's take a trip" or "you need a trip" and "(you?) haven't learned your lesson yet", or something like that. I'm not entirely sure. I think one of the two phrases was in the chorus.
