Need help finding name of song, artist, composer, plus anything else about song

Don't know title, don't know artist. Haunting tune. Words sung in a refrain are: A man should never gamble. A man should never gamble. A man should never gamble more than he can stand to lose. Heard recently. Tune, words and female singer's voice all sound very familiar but can't find anyone who recognizes it. Can you help?

hey i heard this song at american eagle once and i only remember like one verse of it "i said common lets dance we've gotta take a chance you whispered in my ear you wanna get out of hear" this tune replays in my head all the time. I dont know the artist who sings it. Can you help me?

The name of the song, one of my all-time favorites, is Diamond Lil, written and performed by David Bromberg.

Released, I think, in the late 60's. I remember first hearing around 68.
