I have two ideas which are actually not so bad

eskot=Shut up/Be quite![but it is not so strong i guess ] or sakker temmak= literal translation close your mouth

I don't know if anyone has covered this yet in the Lebanese thread, but what are the numbers used in the words and how are they pronounced?

    For example: La2
What is the pronunciation of 2 and whats it's arabic letter?

    @ xXalanaXx

learning these numbers is a good step in learning Arabic, because they r used to represent Arabic sounds in all dialects and Standard Arabic too (not only Lebanese Arabic) when written in English letters (see the note below)

    here they r:

    NUMBER 2
it represents the sound ء (hamza) (read more on it in Wikipedia), it's pronounced like the English sound A when in the beginning of a word, try to say i saw then stop then continue and say a car, the 2 sound is like a, an example in Arabic is the word qera2a (reading) to be able to pronounce it with the help of English say qera a car, now remove car from the pronunciation, the final result is qera a

number 2 also represents the sound ق (q) in the dialects that pronounce the sound ق as the English sound A such as Lebanese Arabic, for example the word اتفاق (etefaq) (agreement) ends with the Arabic sound ق, it's pronounced in Standard Arabic etefaq, but in Lebanese Arabic the ق is pronounced as the English sound A so the word is pronounced etefa2, so as u see in this case the number 2 is used too

pronouncing ق as the English sound A isn't applied to all words, some words preserve the sound ق as q in all dialects, so don't think that in Lebanese Arabic the letter ق is always written and pronounced as 2

    NUMBER 3
it represents the sound ع, it has no equivalent in English, u have to hear someone pronounce it for u

    NUMBER 3'
it represents the sound غ (gh), it's like the French R, u have to hear someone pronounce it for u

    NUMBER 5
it represents the sound خ (kh), it's like the Spanish J and the German CH, u have to hear someone pronounce it for u

    NUMBER 6
it represents the sound ط, it's like the English sound T but heavier and pronounced in a different way, u have to hear someone pronounce it for u, not all people use this number to represent that sound, many just use T, for example the word طائر (ta2er) (bird) some people write it as ta2er and others write it as 6a2er

    NUMBER 7
it represents the sound ح, it has no equivalent in English, u have to hear someone pronounce it for u

    NUMBER 9
i don't know what sound it represents, i think it represents the sound ق that's pronounced as q like in Standard Arabic but i'm not sure, i speak Egyptian Arabic and i rarely see anyone uses it, but there r people who uses it

i think these numbers represent those sounds specifically because they look like them in drawing, for example the number 3 looks like ع

NOTE these numbers r used in informal use of Arabic, but in formal use (for example titles of books) they r not used and instead the closest sounds in English r used, for example the word 7aya (حياة) (life) if in a title of a book u'll find that it's written as Haya and not 7aya, but sometimes u may find the numbers used in formal use too

    @ PaolitaStar

i speak Egyptian Arabic, so i prefer that someone who speaks Lebanese Arabic answer ur question to get a correct answer, but here's my guess, but is bas (بس)

laken (لكن) also means but, but in ur sentence i feel that bas is the one to be used

yea, some people use it represent the sound ق (q), i met it mostly in maghreb dialects thread... but there are also people (from gulf countries) use it for represent ص (strong S) so 9' is represent ض.

Yes true if you put ص perpendicularly it is very similar[its shape] to number 9,letter ض has a dot so this is why they add['] to it,the same thing is with letter ط=looks like 6 and ظ equals 6'
