Yea that 2 I guess But I still wanna visit it I'm very interested in ancient history. I study the history of Greece and the romans, philosophie and now the Greek language. I do it on my own, I don't take lessons.
I ve heard about the current situation in Athens on the news

If you want to go to Athens make sure you go in August when most Athenians are gone

Because in August most Athenians are on their holidays and Athens is completely empty! Yes, then it's a paradise...

Can someone give me the translation from this ...
Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then
We had just one day to recall
Now all I want is something more
Than just a fading memory
Left wondering what could have been
Isn't it a shame, that when timing's all wrong
You're doing what you never meant to,
There's always something that prevents you.
Well I believe in fate, it had to happen this way
But it always leaves me wondering whether...
In another life we'd be together.
We should feel lucky we can say...
we've always got yesterday
And as I leave it all behind
You're still emblazoned in my mind
And for that very special day
Nobody loved me in that way
Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then

Hi Fidelitas.
I translated this nice poem, not in a strict way.
I rather tried to keep the meanings of the words, but I turned (at specific verses) it to a more poetic aspect.
ΝΟΤΕ that I have translated the poem in the way a woman addresses it to a man. If you wish to have it reversed, please say it!
Forget me not, I ask of you
Μη με ξεχάσεις, σου ζητώ
Wherever your life takes you to
όπου κι αν η ζωή σου σ'οδηγήσει
And if we never meet again
Κι αν δε συναντηθούμε ποτέ ξανά
Think of me every now and then
να σκέφτεσαι εμένα κάθε τώρα και τότε ((---> don't write this!) ποιητική αδεία :Ρ)
We had just one day to recall
Να θυμηθούμε, είχαμε μόνο μια μέρα
Now all I want is something more
Τώρα, το μόνο που ζητώ, είναι κάτι πιο πολύ
Than just a fading memory
από μια απλή ανάμνηση, που ξεθωριάζει
Left wondering what could have been
έμεινα αναρωτώμενη τι θα μπορούσε να έχει συμβεί
Isn't it a shame, that when timing's all wrong
Δεν είναι κρίμα, που όταν ο συγχρονισμός είναι εντελώς λάθος
You're doing what you never meant to,
κάνεις όλα αυτά που ποτέ δε σκόπευες,
There's always something that prevents you.
Yπάρχει πάντα κάτι, που σε εμποδίζει
Well I believe in fate, it had to happen this way
Λοιπόν, πιστεύω στην τύχη, έπρεπε έτσι να συμβεί
But it always leaves me wondering whether...
Αλλά πάντα μένω με την απορία αν...
In another life we'd be together.
σε κάποια άλλη ζωή, θα ήμασταν μαζί
We should feel lucky we can say...
Πρέπει να νιώθουμε τυχεροί, μπορώ να πω...
we've always got yesterday
έχουμε πάντα, το χτες
And as I leave it all behind
Κι όπως τ' αφήνω όλα πίσω
You're still emblazoned in my mind
είσαι ακόμα ζωγραφισμένος, μες στο μυαλό μου
And for that very special day
και γι' αυτή την τόσο ξεχωριστή ημέρα
Nobody loved me in that way
κανείς δε με αγάπησε μ' αυτόν τον τρόπο
Forget me not, I ask of you
Μη με ξεχάσεις, σου ζητώ
Wherever your life takes you to
όπου κι αν η ζωή σου σ'οδηγήσει
And if we never meet again
Κι αν δε συναντηθούμε ποτέ ξανά
Think of me every now and then
να σκέφτεσαι εμένα κάθε τώρα και τότε

I really love this text! It really touched me. But what you mean by:
Think of me every now and then
να σκέφτεσαι εμένα κάθε τώρα και τότε ((---> don't write this!) ποιητική αδεία :Ρ)

What I mean, is that it cannot be said in everyday speech, nor can it be written down in a formal text.
This expression can only be used within a poem, where some grammatical rules, are put aside, at times.
We never say 'every now'. Nor in english. But for the sake of the poem, we are allowed to say Κάθε τώρα και τότε. Well, there is no fixed rule for such expressions
Ποιητική αδεία = we are allowed to say so, only in a poem.
To the point
>>να σκέφτεσαι εμένα κάθε τώρα και τότε ((---> don't write this!) ποιητική αδεία :Ρ)
I meant DON"T WRITE my comment within brackets
The rest (να σκέφτεσαι εμένα κάθε τώρα και τότε ) is my translation to the verse

Eh this doesn't sound like standard Greek. At least it doesn't make sense to me... are you sure it's what you saw?

I don't really know am i allowed to send such personal message but i need some translation help. I've a friend from Greece and he has helped me a lot with buch of things and i want to send him a thank you letter, and as a nice thing i wanna do it in greek but i dont know enough greek to write such thing.
So maybe you'd translate the text below for me in greek letters? please? you really don't have to do it if you don't want to. this is a lyric forum..so i'd understand if anybody doesn't wanna do it.
"Stamatis! I must say that I cannot begin to thank you enough for all these... the support you're showing is great and I really appreciated everything you did for me. I was shocked by the note I got today. You made me happy too much. Thanks a lot for recommending me. Gosh I still cannot believe that you did that, you are the nicest guy in the whole universe ever! Apart from that thanks a lot for your interest in my photography. I'm writing all those but I still don't know what to say..I'm speechless.
Thank you for the everything you've done for me sweetie. Have a wonderful week! Sending you my kisses.."

Some words are indeed Greek but the whole context doesn't make sense. Maybe if I change some words it will sound better.
Mipos na pame gia ena sigaro?=Maybe we could go for a cigarette (to smoke a cigarette)
alla eho mesa sto spiti mou megalo kolikono=but I've got in my house big kolikono (sorry I have no idea what kolikono means)
De mou aresi yiati pame sto sigaro ligo kiklio...=I don't like it because we go to... (I don't get the rest)
Perhaps the person who wrote this isn't Greek or he speaks I dialect I don't know... I can't help you more

Thank you very much for your reply, it makes a bit of sense to me now! It was sent to me from someone who has moved to Greece recently and is learning the language. He did say that the original text, I posted earlier, needed to be changed into cryllic which I think I did!!
Thanks again
