I agree with you dmoney. I've heard many English speakers mention how hard it is for them to learn the subjunctive. I dabbled a little in French when I was in high school and was told that even in French the subjunctive is not used as much as in Spanish. But you can definitely learn it if you make it a point to do so!

Did you mean "You are single & free to..."?

Default Help with 2 items

1. I'm having trouble translating this verse:

2. We have an expression, "I didn't just fall off the turnip truck yesterday" indicating that you are not as stupid as the person thinks you are - is there a similar kind of expression in Spanish?

Thanks for the help!

Wherever you'll be I only ask that you don't forget
that because I loved you like Christ I was left with
los brazos abiertos al final. Y ya ves que aun siento
my arms open till the end. & you already see that I still feel,
from you night, the serenader, you deny my night the illusion
de ver un nuevo dia amanacer.
of seeing a new day begin.

2. You can also say "I wasn't born yesterday"~"No nací ayer"

Haha, in Argentina, penedjo/a just means "dumb little boy/girl"...nowhere near as bad as in everywhere else

...& it also refers to pubic hair, haha.

Hola compatriota, tanto tiempo sin cruzar palabras

You're right, "pendejo/a" means that... But as I can see how the people is using it here, it has a negative connotation, when someone call some one else "pendejo/a!" , it's not being nice at all with this person. Am I wrong ?

solo tristeza,desesperanza y soledad.

de esa mujer que fui
solo pedazos quedan
mis alegrias,mis anhelos,mis suenos
se ezfumaron como polvo en el viento.

que es lo que queda de mi...
hoy no queda nada, solo dolor...

what is left of me
de mi? no queda nada...
of me? nothing...
solo tristeza,desesperanza y soledad.
only sadness, hopelessness and loneliness.

de esa mujer que fui
of the woman that I was
solo pedazos quedan
only pieces remain
mis alegrias,mis anhelos,mis suenos
my joys, my wishes, my dreams
se ezfumaron como polvo en el viento.
faded away like dust in the wind.

que es lo que queda de mi...
what is left of me...
hoy no queda nada, solo dolor...
today nothing, only pain...
so strong that I can no longer feel

I will never again be the woman I was...
that woman was killed by the pain...died of love

Last edited by bedroomeyes : 11-30-2008 at 06:40 PM. Reason: replaced 'pain' with 'amor' for 'love' - my bad!

Too funny! Well, we can all look at each other's translations and learn, I guess. That's what I do!
