I have always found it interesting when the artists give their interpretation of the song. Sometimes what we think is going on is actually what they are singing about and other times... I probably have heard all of these songs at one time or another and I can tell you just from memory that they are pretty obvious. Longing for the love they once had, couldnt have or never will. It makes for good drama. The Stone Sour song maybe the exception. I thought the song was about Cory Taylors attempted suicide and time in an institution but he was quoted as stating it was about watching TV in some foreign country.

Thanks for your reply. That is what I was wanting to confirm because it was what I was thinking. I agree about the stone sour song.. but with the main chorus and when you 1st start listening to it it could be interpreted of someone looking at someone they miss and love through the glass of a picture frame, through the bottom of a drinking glass drinking the pain away, through the glass of a computer screen, through binoculars.. I dunno, Ive heard that interpretation from others.
The Death Cab for cutie song confuses me as well.. it seems like it would be about a person the writer IS with until he says "If no one there when your soul embarks, I will follow you into the dark...

Whats anyone elses thoughts? is there any song in this list that DOESNT seem to be about someone missing someone they can't have anymore and wishes to be with them again.
