A New Start

with lips of resuscitation
only she can breath the air of life
into my open mouth

she is the morphine
that flows through my veins
heals the most deepest of pains

her soft-spoken voice
leads me astray of the light
helps me to open my eyes
into the fluorescent white

and if she were to give up hope and leave
it would be the end of me
because i need her
like the fluids running through my body

and so now I lay here
motionless and weak
i wish i could tell her
that she is the only reason my damaged heart beats

days turn into weeks, weeks into months
i feel the world as it passes my bye
and if i could, I'm sure i would cry

and though i may show no emotion
when you say i love you and kiss me so softly on my head

know that the only reason i do not respond
is because I'm shackled and binded to this hospital bed

and I'm stuck in a blissful perpetual dream
the one where she tells me I'm everything she needs

and if i could i would tell her that this will never change
I'd tell her to love another and cherish each day

now as my pulse starts to fade, this where i go away
though please don't be afraid, for i have seen many beautiful days

always and forever, i will live in her heart
and this is nothing but a new start
