    Smile Hip Hop

Born of true blood got hip hop flowing in my veins
they tried to kill us of, beat down and placed in chains
like Ali pound for pound they couldn’t out do me
doing the rope-a-dope showing both brawn and brains
    when that track hits,
I’m floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee
I’m here to show what rhythm can bring to the world
yet these ****ers say we a bad influence
criticise our dress sense, our appearance
already judged, Hip Hop not given a chance
not given a fair trial, a tribunal
and not praised for our had work, our diligence
    our brilliance, our excellence
blame me for your children failing in life
if so then show me the evidence
    without us, without our existence
those from the hood struggle to find finance
and then you blame us for their crimes
    curse me for my rhymes
they killing us but I still raise up the peace sign
Hip Hop is bigger than that
your jealousy and constant talking just fuels us
me breaking through is only a matter of progress
cause I possess the talent to impress enabling my own success
so I know I’m destined for great things
the history books opening thanks to the dream that is Hip Hop

Actually, hip hop is criticised because of acts like Eminem, 50Cent and the others who claim the gangsta lifestyle is a good lifestyle choice.
It was the same in the 90's with bands like Wu Tang Clan and Ice T.
It was the same in the 80's with NWA and Public Enemy.

You also have acts like Cypress Hill and Snoop Dog but they give a sense of humour with the package.

If hip hop had acts like Grandmaster Flash or Run DMC again who could make people see that "yes, we're rapping, but we have a message and this is it" then they'd not just hear but LISTEN to hip hop but they'll never fully listen to hip hop when the message is "you can have a lifestyle of expensive cars and women without working for it, just shoot people who get in your way".

Listening to gangtsa rap, dropping out of school and getting cr*p jobs.

Dude, it happened with rock music too
