Salam, i LOVE juliana jendo aswell, she is considered almost as high as googoosh in assyrian music along with linda george aswell..

im also a big fan of dj illezt too :P, thats because i am dj illezt lol

Juliana jendo and Linda george are assyrian singers who both currently reside in the US at the moment but were born in iraq and shabnami surayyo is of tajiki descent from tajikistan (north-west of iran) but i am not sure where she is from but i know she is famous in afghanistan aswell
You know who I CAN'T STAND, in terms of Assyrian singers? Fatin Shabo and Sargon Gabriel.

lol. But yeah WOO JULIANA JENDO! <3 lol

Hi Nadieh,

Thank you for the welcome! I just love that song, and especially because Kamyar is featured in it. I made a video to that music for my friend in Tehran.

I love Kamyar's voice! Have you seen/heard him do Aghebat? That's the next song I wan't to ask for. But I can't find any lyrics yet - at least not transliterated ones.

Poor Vanda... she does so much translation for us. What can we do for you Vanda? I can translate German if you need. Some of Afshin's songs have German, particularly when his brother Amir sings.

It seems all of us non-Iranians are interested in Persian music for different reasons. I'm trying to learn the language too. I don't have much time to learn so it's very difficult if you don't practice every day!

anyways, as my dear Laura said, you can take something from easypersian and this forum too, thought I know my translation is not a good source to learning Farsi.

Love
Vandi
Vanda, your english is perfect and your translations even more. But, you do something better than simple translating song from Farsi into english: you give all your enthusiasm with each song, a piece of your soul, wich made them so special. So, a professor in Cambridge coudnt possibly write better english than you :-)
I love the way you do it. Somehow you keep the "Window to Persia" open for us... for me at least... and dooset daram for this opportunity you give me

Hey Ashoori, I am not sure about what this up-tempo is… but I guess I know what you mean, and this is exactly what I like about this song too. Also some Iranian songs have this rhythem that apparently seems not to have rythem! :-) (if I was able to make myself clear).
Afghanistan is another great unknown country for me…

I also love Ta toro didam by Sattar but couldn’t find the Shabnami one either. If you find it, please upload it form me ☺

By the way Vanda, could you Persians understand Tajik easily? Is it just like farsi but with a different accent?

my name is nooran and i am new to this forum. i was reading the translations that a great number of you have done and i just wanted to say what a great job! i messaged Vanda with a song a while ago and she was trying to help me figure out who the song is by and possibly what it says.

well i found out the song i was asking about was by Alborz Mousapour and the song is called "Dar Be Dar." this is the link where i found the song:

www.myspace.com/hallkon

has anyone heard this song before or know where i could possibly get it from?

Hi Nadieh,

Firstly, here's Aghebat on youtube:
YouTube - Aghebat
The song is not what I usually like in Persian music (I like dance music but not so much where the voices are electronicly altered), but the first time I heard this, I was hooked. I think Kamyar has one of the most beautiful voices. Actually I love the whole Black Cats album Scream of the Cats.

You asked how I got into Persian music. I've been all over the world in terms of music - South America, Greece, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, Senegal, Germany, Turkey; Celtic music and now Persian music. The first song I ever heard was Adam Forush by Shadmehr Aghili. From there I was hooked. But I'm also interested in the culture, language and the food.

There only very few Iranians in my area, and they are very sweet, gentle people. One in particular is a friend, although he lives about half an hour away and works many hours, so I don't see him all that often.

From there I got more interested in everything Persian, and then went out of my way to meet others - especially on the Internet (because there are no others in my area).

So, none of it has anything to do with having lived in Israel. That was 30 years ago! But, I do love most Middle Eastern music and maybe that came from living there.

For the last 6-7 months I've been having an 'internet relationship' with a man in Tehran. Probably one of the sweetest, most tender hearted man I've had the pleasure to know (and handsome too). My friend doesn't like the same musid as I do - he seems to like music from 20 years ago. I've continuted to find and listen to Persian music (now over 300 songs) and got interested in learning the language, although that's been very very slow. I don't have the kind of time I'd like to devote to it.

I've tried my hand at several Persian dishes, cooking blindly because I don't know what they're supposed to taste like. We do have an Indian restaurant nearby which has 3-4 Persian dishes on the menu and I quite liked them, but because I don't like corriander (cilantro), many of the dishes are out for me. If my friend from Tehran ever comes to visit (I hope soon) then I'd love to cook some familiar dishes for him as well as our typical Australian fusion cooking and the European cooking I grew up on.

sooz

So that's the short version of why I'm interested in Persian music.

Hello Nooran, Yanananda and Sooz. Welcome to the forum. Sorry I havent welcomed you earlier. I do it now! :-) Hope you enjoy here.

Ashoori, I DO PERFECTLY KNOW who DJ Illetz is :-) Juliana Jendo remix is my song of the morning this month (is has replaced Nazi joon and Dokhtar bandari) :-) is funny, because I remeber you every morning! :-)

I wonder where Masood is... :-( I also liked his translations....

Today I had to laugh... my work college, to whom I have recorded a CD with Iranian music, told me that she use to play this musics in the car over the weekend when going out with her firends, and they call it the "techno Kebab CD" :-)
So guys, I like to know that we are spreading our music (well, iranian music) :-)

Kiss to all

I have just watched the movie "Gorg o mish"... Somehoow I have liked it, although is a bit sad and weird... and I havent understood much what is it about as it had not subtitles or anything... the only thing I have understood was:

bale
are
nadare
and when the girl asked: "Sareh, kojaee?" and the other one answered "inja!"...
That was all... ah! and of course Benyamin songs.

Vanda, where did you get this movie from?... I would like to download some other Iranian films.

Cheers

LOL you've got to excuse me with my "music" talk because I forget sometime lol..up-tempo simply means faster and I happen to like fast songs (but it cant always top the sad Iranian songs)..

If I find Shabnami's version of the song, you'll be the first I send it to xx
