Hope at least one of these songs will pass muster as "Balkan" because I adore this lady and especially these two songs ... I "stole" the second video from feuersteve in another thread ...

Here is the correct link, amaryn

    Excerpts from Wikipedia:

Four battles were fought between the Russian Empire, aided by Bulgarian volunteers known as Opalchentsi, and the Ottoman Empire for control over the crucial Shipka Pass during the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878).

In July, 1877 four Russian corps had crossed the Danube River and were moving into Bulgaria. To precede the main Russian army Joseph Vladimirovich Gourko led a detachment to capture the vital Balkan Mountain passes.

    2nd Battle
August 23, the Ottoman forces attacked all Russian positions with the main effort again at St. Nicholas where most of the defenders were Bulgarian volunteers.

On the 26th, an Ottoman attack on St. Nicholas reached the Russian trenches but was repulsed again by a Bulgarian bayonet charge.

    Third Battle
General Fyodor Radetzky, now commanding the defenses, brought up reinforcements and a Russian counterattack drove the Ottoman forces from all captured ground.

The Fourth Battle of Shipka Pass from January 5–9 was the final battle for Shipka Pass and a crushing Ottoman defeat.

Today the Shipka Pass is in the Bulgarka Nature Park and is home to a monument commemorating those who died in the battle.

    bjezi kiso s prozora:

    RAIN GO AWAY

Outside it's raining, raindrops are falling on my window
and I'm all alone at home
    sitting, crying, grieving,
don't know what to do with myself

    rain, disappear from my window,
if you weren't falling I'd be kissing my dear!

    The rain spoke to her
    girl sit at home
    cause he isn't for you
    he's now with another girl

    rain you're lying
    my love isn't cheating me
    I'm his dearest
    rain, disappear from my window

CRVENA JABUKA BEZI KISO S PROZORA LYRICS

    Pada kiša na polju
    kaplje mi po prozoru
    a ja sama kod kuće
    sjedim, plačem, tugujem
ne znam šta ću od sebe

    Bježi kišo s prozora
    bježi kišo s prozora
Da te nije sad bih ja
    svoga dragog ljubila
    Bježi kišo s prozora

    Kiša joj govorila
    kiša joj govorila
    Sjedi curo kod kuće
    sjedi curo kod kuće
    Jer on nije za tebe
    on je sada kod druge

    Ti si kišo lažljiva
    ti si kišo lažljiva
    mene dragi ne vara
    ja sam njemu najdraža.
