I think I agree with paulbecky. My best song ever hands down would have to be something out of the Wish you were here album. But as far as lyrics are concerned Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits, Fragile by Sting and most recently George Michael's You have been loved have a special place in my heart

I'm glad so many of you have chosen latin (or spanish) songs as your favorite ones...

I'm from Spain, Europe. We (us?) latins have been choosing anglo-saxon music for a long time (well deserved, by the way) and it was about time that we had our say so that you could understand and enjoy our "swing".

Nice intercourse. Music is universal.

Now, on to my favorites (maybe you won't find a single latin one...):

OF ALL TIME:
-----------------

Totally agree on

- Pink Floyd - Wish you were here (hard to beat)

Others that have shaken me include:

- Supertramp - Fool's overture (the first time I listened to this I found that music could be so big)
- Billy Joel - Blonde over blue
- King Crimson - Matte Kudasai
- Queen - Bohemian rhapsody
- The Police - Message in a bottle (this one brought me back from big music to fresh well-made songs)
- Peter Gabriel - Digging in the dirt
- Yes - Close to the edge (A Twentieth Century classic, all along it's twenty-something minutes length)

NEW ONES:
--------------

Mmmmh... difficult, talent's so hard to find these days... I'll include what I've heard from 5 years ago till now:

- Green day - American idiot
- Rachael Yamagata - Letter read (recommended listening, if you don't know her)
- Robbie Wiliams - Rock DJ
- Shakira - Ciega, sordomuda
- Alejandro Sanz - Corazón partío
- (The artist formerly known as) Puff Daddy - Come with me (A tribute to Led Zeppelin included in the mention).
- Avril Lavigne - Complicated

---

Anyone ready to compile and classify all the answers given here?

Cheers

Lightbulb The one ...

Goodness Gracious ... !!! ... What a topic !!! ... ...

Is there ONE ultimate song that is THERE for a LIFETIME ?!? ...

I often wondered, ... if I had a choice to hear something before I passed away, what would it be ?!? ... Very early on in life, I felt that for me it was a piece by Tchaikofski, entitled "Romeo and Juliette" ... so, no lyrics there I'm afraid ... lol

Now, and as I grow older with myself and life ... I think that what would delight me to hear last, is ... the sound of laughter of loved ones ... ...

Songs I love ?!? ... Thousands !!! ... The spirit and the mind and the heart and the body have such magnificent aptitute to absorb and assimilate ... !!! ... and this is just regarding our 3-dimensional "beingness" ... let alone the 4th dimension of time ... i.e. what goes on during our lifetime...

So, yes !!! ... Thousands !!! ... simply because, thousands of "unique moments" !!! !!! ...

(... and I guess, I have always been a Supertramp, Child of Vision ... of sorts ... ... )

Best 2 Pac - Changes
.i....i.
Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a ***** he's a hero
Give crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less ugly mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is
