What do you love about rap

we've seen the what u hate about rap thread... now what do you all love about rap music... i love the beats, the flow, and the lyrics of the good songs (not 50 cent, dem franchize boys, paul wall, ying yang twins etc.)

haha w/e dude.... thats ur opinion and mine is that those guys are the ones that give rap a bad reputation... 50 less than the others but obv. your a rap novice. You want REAL GOOD rap (besides the givens like Pac and Big) listen to Big L, Mos Def, Talib kweli, black thought, Method Man, Gang starr, Krs one... if u want anymore names just ask...

what makes rap good is the message it sends. Rap about alcahol, sex, drugs and violence isnt any more different than some death metal bands. The good rap keeps kids off the streets and away from drugs

Whats good about some rap music is that it brings political awareness to younger generations who may have a lack of interest in it, and while yes their opinions may be biased at least they are bringing some awareness to politics in a better manner than other methods. also i will agree with bthought the beats and the lyrics are good they stand out, and their rhymes are cleverly put together!

yeah not all all rap music is good.... i hate how some people think that just because I listen to rap it means i listen to all those guys that ONLY rap about money, sex, drugs, and killing.... I mean sure i love biggie and tupac and some other rappers that talk about that stuff but its not ALL they rap about... I wish that people would understand that not all rap is the same

i agree with you, not all rappers rap about money, sex, drugs, and killing! that just tends to be all that the media portray! the industry seems to assume that thats all that sells, so thats what they'll publicise and its down to films and tv etc, that they get this assumption from, whereas if you look at some of the better artists you will find that they will rap about other subjects that are more meaningful and are true to life that people can identify with such as biggie and tupac who you just can't deny their talent! they're good! you just have to listen to more than just whats played on the radio!

exactly! thats actually what i was trying to say but i didn't really know how haha. i have no idea where the industry got the idea that good rap is about sex drugs and killing.... well put spudmunky....

Thank you very much! you put it very well yourself! i know its stuipd that the industry has gotten the idea that good rap is sex, drugs, killing etc. especially with the newer generations being more impressionable! they really need to try putting out more positive images every once in awhile!
