Heh, "golden oldie" notwithstanding, I'm surprised no one's yet mentioned "Vincent" (Starry Starry night) by Don Mclean....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dipFMJckZOM

    - this video makes it all the more moving...

I shed more than a few tears watching/listening to this...!!!! I think it is beautifully written, rhyming, vivid poetry set to music...sigh..........,, poor, poor Van Gogh RIP... :'''-(

    "Weathered faces lined in pain
    are soothed beneath the artist's
    loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
    perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
    starry night.
    You took your life
    as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
    Vincent
    this world was never
    meant for one
    as beautiful as you. "

Unhappy (They Long To Be) Close To You

You know what, I would never usually admit this, let alone be apart of a conversation of this nature, but seeing as how this forum is now my altered realty...I can go ahead and disclose this personal information of mine.

This ever popular song by the Carpenters, probably synonmous with 'New Love' in ones life and also 'The Simpsons', gets me everytime, and never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It's all because of the first couple of lines in the song. Once they hit that, very depressing, E-Flat-Major chord while she is singing "...Close to you" for the first, my eyes swell up and ever single thought of 'loss-in-my-life' comes to the for front of my brain, and derails every aspect of happiness from my character.

Try listening to all aspects of that song; the lyrics, the melody, the chords, the message...it's quite powerful. Maybe you'll even have an experience that not quite unlike my own.

    Have a listen.

Hmm second post and I'm going to look like a blubbery fool...

    Glycerin - Bush
Sung on a regular basis with a friend who was lost in a car accident.

    Untitled - Simple Plan
Played at the funeral for my two friends who were lost in that same car accident.

Who am I to Say - Hope
Don't cry, but the vocals make me sad from the tone. Hits somewhere deep.

    You - Switchfoot
Regular song played by another friend who died last year to diabetes with H1N1 complications.

Chance of a Lifetime - Mest
Again, song sung by lost ones.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams Remix - Greenday/Oasis
The ultimate in memento songs. I used to sing this with my two friends, Adam taking Greenday, me Oasis, and Shawn singing to both in echo style

Boys of Summer - The Ataris
This was our theme song, in fact the poem on the headstone of Adam is titled "Boys of Summer" to a poem him and I wrote last one night.

    Emotionless - Good Charlotte
Great song that hits close to home.

    Quote - Evans Blue
Something about the stopping, starting, and music puts me in a "deeper thought," mood.

    Pieces - RED
    Don't get me started.

Okay! Life story of sad music for you!

Ginuwine - I Love You More
Mariah Carey ft Neyo - Angels Cry
    112 - Nowhere
    112 - What If
Lionel Ritchie - I Call It Love
    Nickelback - Far Away
    Sisqo - Incomplete
    Marques Houston - Circle
    R. Kelly - When A Woman's Fed Up
The Isley Brothers - What Would You Do
    K-Ci & JoJo - Crazy
    K-Ci & JoJo - One Last Time
    3rd Storee - I'm Sorry
    Usher - Burn

Not all of them make me cry, but if I'm in the mood, and thinking of the ex, then it'll start.
