well 4 starters u might need a guitar!! What helps is if u get books from like best buy which helps u learn all tha notes and then u can play otha songs!!

No, an actual teacher is the best way to learn. Books aren't humans, so they cannot respond to you. If you didn't already know, hahaha.

learn tabulature... that's what i'd say, it's easy to read!
failing that, learn a few chords... inused chords for my acoustic, and tabs for my bass... it's just easier that way
you CAN learn from books...some show you the 'chord boxes' which show you exactly where to put your fingers on the strings
most of all though...you need patience!

Get a pick and start to learn chrods like shyft87 said. try and get a teacher and a book. visualizing it makes it much easier if your a beginer.

Depends how serious you are on learning.
If you just wish to play simple tunes, I would find a chord chart and start with the simple ones (G, C, D, Em), then progress to the others.

i play bass, for a year now, whitout any books and teachers, and i know my ****! Hehe, kidding...well, i know the basic chords and that,s it! I dont have acoustic guitar at home, but i can play it pretty good...you just gotta have the rhytm!
