Which do you prefer? Ab Minor Augmented 7th scales? or E# dimished Flat 3rd, Flat 7th, Augmented 9th scales?

personally I prefer the G# Mixolydian Modes, instead of working within the regular format of Root noted scales, also i find that playing the 7th degree of the scale as the root note, as the Ostinato, as opposed to doing the standard 1st degree, it just seems to make more sense to me.

What do you guys think?

Agreed. Mixo is definetely the best scale. I find that when playing a Major Pentatonic scale, i sounds a little dry unless i add notes from the Mixolydian mode.

Excellent suggestion, i never would have thought that something so simple as to embellish the Major Pentatonic with some Mixolydian mode intervals would really add a melodic lift to my lead playing, many thanks

'Had 2 think a minute about this, as certainly a VALID point. Would be easier to get the idea, if we are talking ONLY some specific instrument. Think that 'cause you r talking about the Mixo mode, that you must be on the k-board. This doesn't go so well with some of the transposing instruments. And some of the fingerings on the bowed instruments would be impossible. To wit, suppose we talk the k-board. You r certainly entitled 2 your opinion, but am thinking the Mixo mode 2 be of a phase am referring 2 as, 'The Spread-Eagled Phase'. Am feeling that the phase DID pass and that was 'cause needed a better position to really be 'Virtuously Strategic'. Sort of a Martial Arts concept.The Mixo mode was THE ultimate place to improvise, but gets too vulnerable. As result, am only using that mode as dominant to C#.'
