    Jamal Vafayi – Tirom Tirom

This was a famous cabaret song in pre-revolution Iran. We like this song since it is best for dancing a kind of town folk music (e.g. Baabaa Karam dance) which started in south Tehran from 1940s

Tirom tirom aakh joon -------------------------- I'm ready, I'm ready, hurrah
Mikhaam berom aakh joon--------------------- I want to go, hurrah
Biaa jolo aakh joon ------------------------------ come near, hurrah
Tu baaghe no aakh joon ----------------------- in Baaghe No (I think it's the name of a district in Tehran), hurrah
Adas polo aakh joon ----------------------------- Adas polo (an Iranian dish which is rice with lentil), hurrah
Bokhor o boro aakh joon ----------------------- eat it and go, hurrah

Dash dash dash dash daasham man ---------- bro, hey bro, bro hey bro I'm a bro
Nash'eye khashkhaasham man----------------- I'm in a trance of the poppy
Tu chamanaa aabpaasham man --------------- I'm a sprinkler on the grasses
Aasheghe tombakam man ----------------------- I love the Tombak (an Iranian musical instrument http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonbak)
Sayyaade ordakam man -------------------------- I hunt ducks
Vaay vaay vaay ------------------------------------- oh, oh, oh

Maamaanam haalet chetore --------------------- my baby how are you?
Haal o ahvaalet chetore---------------------------- how are you feeling?
Joone man haalet chetore ------------------------ reallu, how are you?
Hale emsaalet chetore? ---------------------------- how are you this year?
To ke ham chin naboodi -------------------------- you weren't like this
Maamaan cheraa deer umadi? ----------------- my babe why did you come late?
To ke ghamgin nabudi----------------------------- you weren't sad
Az omre khod seer umadi ----------------------- you came as if you're ready to give your life
Vaay vaay vaay ------------------------------------- oh, oh, oh

Tirom tirom aakh joon -------------------------- I'm ready, I'm ready, hurrah
Mikhaam berom aakh joon--------------------- I want to go, hurrah
Biaa jolo aakh joon ------------------------------ come near, hurrah
Naro naro aakh joon ---------------------------------- don't go, don't go, hurrah
Tu panj dari aakh joon ------------------------------- in Panj-dari (a form of Iranian architecture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panjdari), hurrah
Ghere kamari aakh joon ----------------------------- waist Gher (Gher is a dance movement of the waist in a circle while bending it completely), hurrah
Sharaab mikhaam yaallaa -------------------------- I want wine, hurry up
Azaab mikhaam yaallaa ----------------------------- I want sorrow, hurry up
Sharaab mikhaam yaallaa -------------------------- I want wine, hurry up
Kabaab mikhaam yaallaa -------------------------- I want kebab, hurry up

Ajab donyaaye vaa nafsaayiye vaay ----------- what a strange world it is, oh
Aadam chichi bege nemdune vaallaa -------- what should I say, I don't know really
Aadam chichi bege nemdune vaallaa -------- what should I say, I don't know really

For Baba Karam dance I should say at first it was performed by Jahel men (who were working class men from downtown, wearing suits with their collar buttons open to their chest, hats, huge moustaches emphasizing their masculinity, and with the back of their shoes tied down so that their shoes looked like slippers, and a red cloth called 'Long' at their hand or around their neck) but later up to the present women performed it too. I'll later post the Baba Karam song.
