hi Salma
Sorry for being late. you said "zire baroon by omid" I guess you want the song "Baran". Although Vanda has translated it once and it is available, I will put her translation for one more time but I changed it, you can find the original one on top of the third page of this thread. Hope you would like it, sorry but too busy to do your other requests right now.

shayad az fekre safar bargardi emshab --- that maybe you would reverse yourself about traveling tonight
az to daram yadegari
sardiy-e in buse ra peyvaste bar lab --- I [would] always have the coldness of this kiss on my lips as a memento of you.
ghatre ghatre, ashke chashmam --- drop by drop, my eye's tears…
michekad ba nam name baran be daman --- are dropping along with drizzle on my clothes
bastee bare safar ra --- you have packed your bags
ba to ey asheghtarin bad karde am man --- I mistreated you, oh the most amorous one
range chashmat --- the color of your eyes…

zire baran, ba to budam --- under the rain, being with you
zire baran, ba to tanha --- under the rain, only with you
baran mibarad emshab --- it is raining tonight
delam gham darad emshab --- my heart is woeful tonight
arame jane khaste --- the comfort of this tired soul
rah miseparad emshab --- will leave [go away] tonight
in kalame akharinat --- your last word…

ama nemishe bavare man --- but I can not believe [accept] it
raftanat ra karde bavar --- (my heart) has believed [accepted] your leaving
eltemasam ra bebin dar in negaham ---see [sense] my entreaty in my look
zire baran gerye kardam --- I cried under rain
balke baran shuyad az janam gunaham ---that perhaps rain would wash the sins of my soul
in kalame akharinat --- your last word…
burde meile zendegi ra az sare man --- has removed the desire of living from my soul
gufte ey --- you said…
shayad biyaee az safar --- that maybe you would come back from travel
ama nemishe bavare man --- but I can't believe [accept] it
key ravad az khatere man(1) --- When would I forget… [means= I will never forget…]
akharin buse shabi dar zire baran? ---the last kiss, on that night, under the rain
rafty o kardam sedayat --- you left and I called you
ama dar aghushe shab gashty to penhan --- but you hid in the hug of the night
hope you luck

donkey!!!
salamalekom Ecoliqua!!!!
I have no idea about what you said, but مسعود is Arabic and it means “auspicious”, “fortunate”.
I guess my translation was not so complete but rather too complete!!! Is it better if I make them shorter? or not?
To tell you the truth I don’t like "Nazi joon" that much, but if it makes you happier and more energetic so God bless its writer!!!
and...
Would you mind telling me something? Why do you say hello at the end of your post???

Hi Masood!
How are you? Okay, since Vanda(may God keep her happy) won't be coming for a few days, I was wondering, if its not too much to ask for, could you translate the song, "Behnaz" by 'Arash' for me please? Below are the lyrics.
behem begoo , behem begoo
doosam dari
behet migam , behet migam
dooset daram
badjoor khaterkham
bi to hicham
donyaye man faghat to-ee
!ay yai yai ya!
*Chorus*
akhe behnaz to
mikhai ba man bashi
jaye to khalist vaghti azam doori
aya behnaz to
mikhai ba man bashi
delam barat tange
hamzabune man
zendegi bi range
be-doo-ne-to
azize man , sheytoone man
jaye to khalist
Oumadanet che shirine
bi to safa nist
badjoor khaterkham
bi to hicham
donyaye man faghat to-ee
! ay yai yai ya !

hi
anyone can translate to me " Nashkan Delamo " by Mohsen Chawoshi ??
here are the lyrics :

thanx .. but i really meant Zire baroon not Baran
http://www.sarzaminmusic.com/Sarzami...e%20Baroon.mp3
and this is the lyrics

:-) Hallo all!
Masood, about the donkey, I am reading a book that is called "Juha, the last of the errant knights" and aparently is quite, quite famous in the arabic world, and his donkey is called masood :-) the donkey is really smart, so maybe that is why it has this name. I like your name :-)
Regarding the song, I cannot say other thing than thank you. I brought the computer with me to my parents and I spent the whole weekend listening to this song and trying to sing along ;-). Definitively, my family think I am nuts... But... inam bemuneh!
Considering that you asked me for feedback, here some comments.
**Masood---in this post pronounce the "u" in the farsi words as in the english word "run" and "a" as "cat"**
Well, for me this thing is a little bit confusing, because I have the tendency to read "u" as "oo". Anyway, I would preffer if you translitarate farsi as is usually done. I mean, I imaging there will be some rules or guidelines to do this... So do it as we will mostly see it out there. I have not idea about how should be better.
I like very much that you write between [] the parts that are not said.
Another suggestion could be writing (F) for formal and (C) for colloquial, like this:
*vase (F), baraye (C)=for*
Also, instead of writing {he sings this part for two times}, you can just write (2x) after the paragraph.
Now some other comments...
**Masood---zir-o roo beshe donyu man dooset duram~~If the world crashes down {with especial thank to Enrique Iglesias because of his “if the world crashes down over me”!], [still] I [would] love you**
I do not know this song from Enrique Iglesias :-)... Maybe I am like Ashoori and Bratadishtar (I wrote Bratadishtar without looking! :-), a litle bit old fashioned for music.
**Masood---dooset duram~~I love you**
What does exactly mean "dooset daram"?... "daram" = for you, or to you, isnt it? and "dooset"?...
**Masood---I don’t know how it is in Spanish but In Farsi we break pride!, I mean the verb “shekastan[break]” is used with the word “ghoroor[pride]” , break here means: to wound. E.g. oo ghorooram ru shekast [s/she wounded my pride]**
We also have this saying, but we use the verb "herir" that means "hurt" or "wound". He hurt my pride.
**Masood---In mysticism Love is like a lesson, science. It has a lot of rules and principles and excruciating levels that you have to study about them in order to pass and become a decent lover for the most beautiful, merciful, faithful, wise, powerful… beloved one [for sure you know him!]. It is an old mystical belief that is still important and honorable nowadays. Different poets spoke about it in different ways the best one that I can mention is Hafez, about the road of love and its levels he says...**
:-), well, I wish I would know the most beautiful, merciful, faithful, wise, powerful and beloved one... but I dont :-). You know, one of the things that surprise me the most about your culture (also arabs), is the importance that you give to love. I believe that you idealize love so much that it must be really difficult to find the perfect one.... Or maybe not! I have no idea... In occident, love has become a second hand emotion. At least in my country, I read that 1 on each 4 couples get divorced every year. This is a lot. I think we do not believe in love very much nowadays. Being romantic is out of fashion. I am not speaking for myself, but for what I see in my society. I am not really sure if my people would listen to the songs you play in Iran... and those video-clips...:-) they all look so innocent and sweet... I imaging this is also because of the censure... But, if I tell you the truth, i would like us to be a bit more like you. Life is tough enough, so we could make it softer by adding a bit of sugar in movies, songs, etc. For example, most of the movies made in Spain are quite, quite rough: sex, violence, drugs, prostitution, homosexuality, corruption... always like this. I accept that there must be people like this, but not all, not all the time... So, in your country is fashionable to show the sweetest part of life and in mine the darkest one... maybe both sides are exagerated and not true; extremes are never good. But i would prefer the sweet one...
Regarding Hafez, I have one of his books in my room! :-) But I have not read it yet. I tried once, but it was very difficult. I will try again.
Well, coming back to the song, I will appreciated if you could please complete some of the words missing in the translation. Sometimes I ask myself why do I like Farsi so much...:-) It has nothing to do with my culture, I have not any relationship with Iran (except a friend of mine) neither have I ever been there... I just know about your country what you tell me here in this forum and what my friend told me... But I like it!

Oops! I think my last post was a bit long... :-)
Sunshinehu, hola! sabes un poco de español? de donde eres? (hello! do you know a bit of spanish? where are you from?).
What means sunshine-hu? are you a guy or a girl? :-) sorry guys, but your names confuse me... I think you are a girl! Thank you too for the wellcome. Hope you stay around long.
Vandita, how are you doing nazanin? I think you were coming back end of june, arent you? well, we will be here waiting for you.Maybe when you come back I am able to translate the songs myself ;-) I am joking. Hassan will do it! he is much more advanced as I am.
Massod, one more thing, I confess Nazi joon is not a glorious song, I just like the rhythem, but, which kind of songs you like? juat tell me one, a famous one.
Hasta luego (until later),
laura

hi Sunshinehu
no problem buddy!
I tried to do it well, but since I didn't have that mush time I don't know if it is intelligible or not, I beg for your opinions!
BEHNAZ [girl’s name]:
Tell me; tell me that you love me
I will tell you, I will tell you that I love you
I’m crazy about you badly, I’m nothing without you
My entire world is you [you are everything to me]
Ay Ay
Behnaz, you ever want to be with me
I miss you when you are away from me [literally your place is empty]
Do you Behnaz want to be with me
My heart misses you, my companion
Life is colorless [dusty, flat, idle] with out you
M darling! My mischief! I miss you
Your coming is so sweet; there is no pleasantness with out you
I’m crazy about you badly, I’m nothing without you
My entire world is you
Ay Ay
Behnaz , you ever want to be with me
I miss you when you are away from me
Do you Behnaz want to be with me
My heart misses you, my companion
Life is colorless with out you

a ten minute translation!
hi, jamalleto!
I really don't have time but because you said you neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it I tried to tranlate it in 10 minutes so you would excuse me for my mistakes [won't you? ]. Hope Vanda were here
here it is:
If I be not in love, I despise [hate/abominate] myself
If I be not in not love, I die soon
If I be not in love, I despise myself
If I be not in not love, I die soon
[Of hearts], a cold one is for me [My heart is cold]
A full-of-pain one is for me [My heart is full of pains]
[O] Companion where is [the] fire [of love (to heat my heart)]?
The table of [my] heart is empty and with out any bread [livelihood] [food]
~~compared heart to a table that there is no bread in it. [My heart is desolate]
My heart needs igniting [fire] [my heart is cold and begs for fire]
[My] darling you accompany [the] confidants [those who keep the secret of your love in their hearts]
You hide a fire under ash [you hide the fire of love that is in the hearts of your lovers under ash/ you suppress love (just like a fire that is suppressed by ash]
I myself that am a mirror in the temple of lovers [1.I am [like] the mirror of love for lovers (love is being reflected by me) 2.mirror reflects everything, I am like a mirror and can’t hide something]
[i] don’t want a hill [dune] of ash in my heart [I don’t want that you hide my love under ash (like what you do to your other lovers)]
the rest is repeated
Hope it would help you
hasta la vista!

Hola Laura!
Me llamo Safia y soy de India.
Sí, sé poco español. Muy poco.
Me gusta español! You know, it was the 1st foreign language I was interested in.Oh I hope what I wrote wasn't wrong.Sorry if I murdered your language.
Yes, you are right, I am a girl.Well, Sunshine+hu has a long story behind it.I'll just say that all of my friends add a hu to their names.
Btw, your previous post was really looooooonnnngg. But thanks, I wanted to know the meaning of certain words and I could find them in your post.
See ya!

Hey Masood,
Thank you so much for the translation I really appreciate the fact that you did it inspite of being busy. Sorry for the trouble.
Yes, your translation helped a lot. Just that, what exactly is 'khaterkham' and 'hamzabune'?

Hola Sunshinehu :-)
your spanish was perfect! I understood everything. Yes, I know that my thread was long... I even think I have bothered Masood :-( Sorry Masood... This is just a lyrics forum and not a language course. Is just that I am too curious... I sing those songs everyday and and actually I sing many things without understanding the meaning, so I preffer to know what i am saying.
Masood, honestly, if it was too much just skip it. I will ask you some other songs (translated in the conventional way). I also would like you to tell me which songs do you like. I believe it has to be more pleasant to translate songs that you like...
By the way Sunshinehu (and thanks for the explanation), are you still studying spanish?
Hasta luego (till later),
Laurahu ;-)

Hello to the great people of this thread
And a special thank to Laura because of staring this thread....I really love you people! Especially because here everyone respects the others and appreciate their efforts for helping.
Dear Laura, you should excuse me because I didn’t answer to your last post, I did read it and it was so much useful hon!
But the problem is that these days I’m dying because of my exams [3 ones are left!!!] and since I wanted to give you a complete answer I decided to do it later, but I accept that I should have thanked you because of your useful notes. I’m really ashamed of myself!
Salma! I apologize for confusing “baran” with “baroon”, actually I had heard the song before but didn’t know its name. I will do it ASAP. Again wish Vanda were here...
Sunshinhu……. You’re welcome luv!
Khaterkhah: خاطرخواه
Khater: means Mind/Thought/Heart
Khah=khahan(خواهان) : means Aspirant/Eager/Liker/hungry/
Khaterkhah literally means something like: mind-liker/wanter but here mind/thought… means everything about the person not just Mind/idea…,we call it “Majaz” in our literature I think it is “imagery” in English but I’m not sure, so a khater khah, wants/loves everything about her/his beloved [not the thoughts of the beloved one]
So khater khah means= Fan/Enchanted/Nut/ Amorous …
Khaterkhah is noun and adjective the verb is: 1.Khater khah boodan [boodan: to be] 2.khater-e kasi [kasi: sb] ra khastan [khastan: to want] = literally wanting the "KHATER" of sb. The meanings are the same: to be a fan of [sb/sth]/ to be nuts about/ to be enchanted…
Finally “Khaterkhaham” is exactly the same az “khaterkhah hastam”[ remember "khater khah boodan"?] it means I am eager/amorous…..the colloquial form is “khaterkham” that in the song “Behnaz” this one is used “ badjoor khaterham”
Clear?
Hamzaboon:
Ham: it is a prefix, means: -mate/same~~some examples to make it more clear:
Kelas: class, ham-kelas: classmate/ otagh: room, ham-otagh: roommate
Zaboon: the formal form is Zaban: tongue
Hamzaboon literally means “tongue-mate”!!!! but the real meaning: hamzaboon is someone that talk with you and you can easily talk with him/her, he/she is closely connected with you and of course accompany you.
Some Synonyms: Hamzaboon/ hamsokhan/ hamdam/ hamnafas/hamneshin/ mosaheb: all of them means: Companion/Compeer/Friend/Mate
Hamzaboon-e: you face this “e” a lot in Farsi but it is not a part of words, we call it “naghsh namay-e ezafe” and it is used to connect words together. It is exactly like “of” in English:
Hamzaboon-e man: the companion of me: my companion.
Another example
Dar: door~~ khane: house
Dar-e Khane: “Dar” of the “Khane”: the door of the house/ the house's door.
I hope it would help you to understand the meaning of these two words better, I think it is clear but if you had any question just let me know.
Have a nice day

Farsi Morning
Masood, do not hurry for the translations. Please concentrate on your exams. I really dont need them now. This is just for fun and should not interfire in you studies. Do it when you have the time. :-) I dont mind you to do first other requests that are shorter. I also learn with the others.
Meantime, I have answered myself some of my questions:
I think this "-ye" is similar to the "-e" you add at the end of nouns to connect them together or to connect noun + adjective. As far as I have understood, you add "-e" when the word ends in a consonant sound and "-ye" when the word ends with a vowel sound.
Following your example:
*dar= door, khane= house -> dar-e khane = the door of the house*
*khane= house, bozorg= big -> khane-ye bozorg = the big house*
other examples with "-e":
gol= flower -> gol-e
pol= bridge -> pol-e
mashin= car -> mashin-e
Examples with "-ye" -I just have one :-)
agha= Mr (I think??) -> agha-ye
You can read a longer explanation of this here:
http://www.easypersian.com/farsi/lesson_23.htm
Well, hope I havent write anything wrong. As I said, Masood, do not hurry. I will keep myself entertained by self studying! ;-). But thank you too for asnwering to our messages. Without you, Persians, there this thread would not exist. We need people eager to learn and people eager to teach. And, as I said many times, you cannot imaging how, by writing some lines here, you can influence in the life of so many people. I am always talking about Iran to everybody, and spreading CDs with Iranian music to whoever I meet :-) And I can tell you that people get surprised... The concept people have here about Iran is totally different (lets say, something like Tallibans...). So, I like to break those sterotypes :-) But, for this I need your help! So, I thank you for your patient and for sharing your time with us. I thinks is Bratadishtar who had a very beautiful quotation on her profile, stating how an small bunch of people can make big changes... I like to believe we can. At least I think is our duty to try...
Have a great day,
Laura

Hey Laurahu (good one!!)
I won't say i'm studying Spanish. Yeah, I still am interested to learn new words and sentences etc. The little Spanish I know, was taught to me by my cousin's friend. She's lives in Barcelona now. So my lessons have stopped but I do learn from the net. Its really helpful.
Right now i'm into Spanish, Persian, Arabic and a few Indian languages. I wish to learn some German, Greek, Turkish and its not gonna be easy. I first need to find someone who can speak these languages! And also, not so soon as i'm already into many. So maybe in a couple of months I might get lucky!
Good day!!

Oh Masood!
Your exams are still going on? Well, good luck with them.
As for your explanations, I understood the meaning completely. It was great. Thanks buddy. You must've put in a lot of time in it I guess. Well, it truly wasn't more important than your studies. So, thank you for your kindness.
Cya!
