Default Dragă Otee...into English, va rog?

Dragă Otee - zdob si zdub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FopH9J5pKk

Dragă Otee, dulce mireasmă,
La gură femeie, la mijloc mireasă.
Dragă Otee, dulce mireasmă,
La gură femeie, la mijloc mireasă.

Curge izvorul, greul răsare,
Acolo pe unde trec urmele tale

Vălură dorul, des ca o iarbă,
Parcă răspunde, parcă intreabă.
Vălură dorul, des ca o iarbă,
Parcă răspunde, parcă intreabă.

I will translate it but it won't make much sense, it's a strange song. And as you can see it contains the Romanian word "DOR" that can't be translated in any language of the world. I've translated as the feeling you get when you miss someone.

Dragă Otee, dulce mireasmă,
DEAR OTEE, SWEET FRAGRANCE
La gură femeie, la mijloc mireasă.
(YOU HAVE) THE MOUTH OF A WOMAN, THE WAIST OF A BRIDE
Dragă Otee, dulce mireasmă,
DEAR OTEE, SWEET FRAGRANCE
La gură femeie, la mijloc mireasă.
(YOU HAVE) THE MOUTH OF A WOMAN, THE WAIST OF A BRIDE

Curge izvorul, greul răsare,
THE RIVER IS FLOWING, TROUBLE RISES
Acolo pe unde trec urmele tale
WHERE YOU HAVE STEPPED

Vălură dorul, des ca o iarbă,
THE FEELING OF MISSING YOU WAVES, THICK AS THE GRASS
Parcă răspunde, parcă intreabă.
SEEMS LIKE IT ANSWERS, SEEMS LIKE IT ASKS.
Vălură dorul, des ca o iarbă,
THE FEELING OF MISSING YOU WAVES, THICK AS THE GRASS
Parcă răspunde, parcă intreabă.
SEEMS LIKE IT ANSWERS, SEEMS LIKE IT ASKS.

Bravo! (and btw, I've heard about that word 'dor' before...it sure seems to come up a lot in Romanian songs, though, for such an untranslatable word. Hmmm....)

Si o limba foarte frumoasa...

Thanks.

p.s. And though it translates oddly, does it make good sense, in its own way, to a native speaker?

No it doesn't make good sense in Romanian either, i've translated it the way it is, i don't see hidden meanings to it, but then again i've never liked Zdob & Zdub. Anyway it was a very popular song.

I can understand its popularity, along with Fara Sens it was one of the first Romanian songs---due to its rhythm & tune---to hook me on R. music.

And believe me, I am hooked; I love this stuff!

It began as an attempt to help me learn the language more quickly & comprehensively but perhaps its chief appeal to me now is how it's opened up an entirely new world to my mind's ears & I.
