Marko Djurovski - Trebaš mi

Here's a song I really like. It reminds me of a situation much like my own life! So naturally I had to translate it! Comments are, as always, very welcome!

srećo* - this is like "darling; dear" but literally means "(my) happiness"

Thanks for the correction, Spring! I will have to edit it on my computer. I spent a lot of time on it, even consulting my mom. It definitely was the most difficult song I've translated, and knew a couple things didn't make sense, but it worked out for the most part.

My only question is:
"Jako osećaš i znaš da naspram sebe stoji drugi deo tebe"
I honestly thought would be at least close to:
"You strongly feel and know that in spite of you there’s another part of me"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if one were to say "another part of you", wouldn't one say "drugi deo od tebe"? I'm most likely wrong, but it's the wording and word placement that may throw me off.

Oh and I'm also confused by "da puno trebaš mi"
You translated it as: "I need you so much"
Wouldn't it be "da puno trebam te"? to say I need you so much? Ahh, so confused again!

"In spite" would be "uprkos"
"another part of me" would be "drugi deo mene"

but I am not surprised the sentence confused you because there is absolutely something wrong with it. If you ask me, it should be:
"Jako osećaš i znaš da naspram tebe stoji drugi deo tebe"
but I guess they used "sebe" to avoid repeating "tebe" although a better solution would have been:
"Jako osećaš i znaš da naspram tebe stoji tvoja druga polovina"

drugi deo tebe (tvoja druga polovina) = the other part of you (your other half)

By saying "deo tebe" you are already saying it's the person's part. No need for "od". But.. I am sure someone else could explain it better

In Serbian, we don't say it like that but "trebas mi"

i remember how that phrase "Trebaš mi " confused me all the time and i translated it like "u need me" but now seems i remember the right variant
i still cant understand why it was confusin me for a long time

Ah, well that makes sense. I tend to speak a super mix of all the dialects it seems. So I guess I can say I speak YUGOSLAVIAN . Haha, but seriously I can say something like "svijeta" and "gde" in the same sentence.

But I guess the reason it's so confusing is because when you tell someone or ask a singular person something, you say "trebas", so that's why I guess I was thinking that. Oh well. Guess I know now haha.
