WAR.....always makes me picture Chris Tucker trying to teach Jackie Chan 'the moves' in the movie Rush Hour
and Foghat - Slow Ride is a song that one of the local college-town bands used to open with bcs it was great for getting us out on the dance floor
This is SO classic. Though I don't really like how it ends anymore....but that's just how our music prefs can change so much from one life-era to the next....

Thanks. But I wonder... how long can you hold your patience?
It's this guy's fault.... http://www.lylharper.com/
He was sorta like my "best buddy" for a few days.
Well hell yeah.

I've never been a fan of glam rock-metal, but as well as being a successful musician crossing 2 or 3 genres, Bret Michaels also happens to be a helluva nice guy. But maybe that's what almost dying from a ruptured brain aneurysm will do for ya.

Take a classic nursery rhyme, add a funky hat, a few favorite blings and some fine blues-rock guitar, and this is what you get...
IF your name is Stevie Ray Vaughan. One of the best there ever was and ever will be.

Great choice! Still like ALL of it!
Had to listen the first notes to remember this one. Yeap, a big hit back then.
Well after reading Michaels' wiki, he can count himself as a HELL of a lucky man after the two medical incidents he passed during 2010.
Pure sound in this vid, hard to find nowdays.

I thought the same thing; not just "perfect" execution by SRV, but crystal-clear reproduction as well. Even my aging ears got a real treat from that video.
Well, I think we've waited long enough for this one.

COMPLETE change of pace:
This and the next entry give a nod to something I was reminded of in some recent reading: Gothic Rock, as it grew out of the culture of the mid-late 1970s. We already have quite of few examples of that subgenere in this topic, but consider this entry "historical background".
Bauhaus was (apparently) the originator of Goth Rock. Their 1979 single, Bela Lugosi's Dead, is largely recognized as the first Gothic Rock record, although it didn't chart (beyond Indie). Bauhaus were not hugely successful in a commercial sense, but after they disbanded in the 1980s, the band members moved on to other (and sometimes bigger) things. For example, three of them formed the group Love and Rockets in 1985.
But more a propos to this post: Bauhaus, as Post-Punk/Gothic groundbreakers, became a notable inspiration or influence for such rock artists as Rosetta Stone, the Curve, Wraith, Kurt Cobain, Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Soundgarten, Nine Inch Nails, Guns 'N Roses...
... and these guys, who eventually moved completely mainstream:

But whatever (genre) you wanna call it, that's "just" some "pretty good" Rock.

Weird album name. But, pray tell, what wouldn't be weird about a band called "Puscifer"?

PPS: I've accomplished some "clean-up" on previous pages of this thread. For example:
-- Several videos we posted have been deleted from Youtube. I found replacement videos, and edited the respective posts to include working links.
-- The Index "master list" was missing a small number of songs, and we've had a few "repeat entries" as a result. As of the time of this post, I've updated the list through page 16 of this thread.
Work is still in progress. I should be finished reviewing pages 17-25 by late this evening.
Edit: From here on, if anybody finds any omissions or errors in this thread and you can't fix it yourself, just PM me (or Amethystos) and it'll be fixed ASAP.There is no glamour in sudden death, and nobody ever wins a war.

Well we've already posted some songs of Wilson sisters, but nowhere in these songs Nancy guitar playing was more important than Ann's vocals....
That's why I wanted to post the following (btw it was the first single following the release of their debut album).
For me the WHOLE song is THAT guitar intro ......
And since I like it too much I'll post 3 versions of it ... hats off to Nancy!
(edit: HA! that's what I was thinking .... but records company 40 years after LP's release still rejects the repost of song's vid out of youtube)

The Sisters of Mercy - Lucretia, My Reflection
Yea that's kind of typical for mainline Goth Rock bands, not very many of them were hugely successful in selling millions of records or anything.....
But I think that Goth is also a lot more than just the purists like Nosferatu and others like them. When i think of Queensryche, Nightwish and Kamelot just for example, I have to think 'Gothic' in regard to the 'spirit' of their music but especially in their persona and stage presence and everything. And from their i can extend as well to an even larger number of Metal bands, and to me it really goes without saying that goth rock and culture go waaay beyond the rigid definition of a single subcategory of rock music
Amethyste that is SO understated
even tho I've only posted one song by Heart, Nancy and Ann are Rock Goddesses to me, I love love LOVE those 2 wonderful ladies. And your upload of Crazy, omg the sound quality! Awesome! really well done!!
.
Ok so....Moonone of my favorite pure-Goth bands.....

(chorus)
I hear the sounds of the city and I'm dispossessed
Get down, get undressed
Get rid of you and me
We got the kingdom, we got the key
We got the empire now as then
We don't doubt, we don't take direction
