I am desperately trying to find the artist who sings the song with what I perceive the chorus to be "Don't be afraid be my friend". It is sung by a black female (most likely) from late 80s early 90s...has a slow r and b/pop feel to it. I will try and put the lyrics in order and I will type as many lyrics as I know.
(VERSE)
How do I tell a story
When there are no words to render
Maybe its a dream come true
But you won't find surrender
Do we all stand up til we (drop)?
It's so hard to say (goodbye)?
And if we might fall in love too fast
Where would we be...
(CHORUS)
I'm askin you-
stop runnin away
I'm not gonna hurt you
Baby life is just too short
to play those games
So don't be afraid be my friend
I will be there til the end
(VERSE)
We cried out (our) emotions
But we can't stop the fever
And then one day I found out
You were a non-believer
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Don't be afraid be my friend
Cause I will be there til the end, oh baby
Don't be afraid
I will be here oh baby....
This is all that I know
I hear "don't be afraid be my friend" over and over so I assume its the chorus, but I have had no luck in searching.
My guess would be to search black female pop r/b singers from 80s/90s? Maybe someone has heard this song-I'm sure of it. I used to hear it at work a lot.
Hope to hear from someone! Please Help!
Thank you so much!
