Ok, I think this is all pretty close.

Let me know if you spot any mistakes and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hund am Strand - "Jungen Mädchen"

    Wir könnten ein Exempel statuieren
    We could set an example

Wir könnten uns lieben und diese Liebe einfrieren
We could love ourselves and freeze this love

Dann könnten wir die Liebe weitergeben
Then we could pass on the love,

    In andere, lieblosere Leben
    to other, more loveless lives.

    Alle Jungen, alle Mädchen
    All boys, all girls!

    zieht eure T-Shirts aus
    Take your t-shirts off!

    Yeah Yeah!

    Alle Jungen, alle Mädchen
    All boys, all girls!

    zieht eure T-Shirts aus
    Take your t-shirts off!

    Yeah Yeah!

    Wir könnten den Gebietsverlust riskieren
We could risk a loss of territory

Wir könnten uns lieben und diese Kriege einfrieren
We could love ourselves and freeze these wars

Dann könnten wir die Kriege wegbewegen
Then we could move the wars away

    an andere, vergangene Leben
    in other past/bygone lives

    Alle Jungen, alle Mädchen
    All boys, all girls!

    zieht eure T-Shirts aus
    Take your t-shirts off!

    Yeah Yeah!

    Alle Jungen, alle Mädchen

    Yeah Yeah!

    Wir könnten die Gefühle konservieren
    We could preserve the feelings

Wir könnten uns lieben und aus den Augen verlieren
We could love ourselves and lose sight [of each other]

    Ja, wir könnten Vorurteile revidieren
    Yeah, we could rethink prejudices

Wir könnten Pole schmelzen und schnell evakuieren
We could melt poles and quickly evacuate

    Oh wir könnten, wir könnten
    Oh, we could, we could

    Wir könnten einen Ausweg propagieren
We could preach of a way out

Wir schocken die Systeme und sie könnten explodieren
We shock the systems and they could explode

Dann könnten wir die Liebe weitergeben
Then we could pass on the love

    In andere und eigene Leben
in another and your own life

    Alle Jungen, alle Mädchen
    All boys, all girls!

    zieht eure T-Shirts aus
    Take your t-shirts off!

    Yeah Yeah!

    In andere, lieblosere Leben
To another loveless life. -> to other, more loveless lives

Dann könnten wir die Kriege wegbewegen
Then we could get away from the wars -> I haven't a clue how you can "move away" wars but that's what it means. If you ask me, yours sounds much more plausible but isn't the proper translation. Maybe you knew, heh

    an andere, vergangene Leben
in another previous life -> in other past/bygone lives
(That Leben is Leben in singular and plural confuses you, doesn't it? - Das Leben = sing. / Die Leben = plural)

    Wir könnten die Gefühle konservieren
We could preserve the feeling -> feelingS

Wir könnten uns lieben und aus den Augen verlieren
We could love ourselves and lose sight [of each other]

Wir schocken die Systeme und sie könnten explodieren
We shock the system and it could explode -> the systems and they could explode

There you go. What's up with all the (assumably) foreign people translating German lyrics? (and so good at that)

Have a good evening, hope it helped. Yours was perfect in fact, besides the plural / singular thingy

    Thanks.

*smacks self* I didn't even really think about plural/singular, I don't know why, it just didn't occur to me at the time. Looking at it now, the plural things seem so obvious.

I am an American. Is it odd for non-German's to translate German lyrics?

I do it mostly for practice, as I'm trying to learn German.

I don't know if it's generally considered "odd" but for me personally it's certainly something uncommon to see
Most foreigners I know solely curse about German and are more than happy never to see any of it again.

Not that you misunderstand me however, I cherish anyone who is trying to translate or learn German greatly! Just surprised you're all so good at what you're doing

Have a good night and keep the translations coming! And feel free to ask if I (or anyone else) can help you with anything.

    I see.

Now that I think about it, I don't know a single native-born American who can speak German fluently. My German teacher at school speaks fluent German, but that's because he was born in Germany.

It is true, most Americans seem unable to appreciate other languages.
I really don't understand people who are like that. I've always liked foreign languages, especially Germanic/Nordic languages.

I really love the German language, and I very much would like to be able to speak it fluently someday. I really am jealous of the fact that you Germans start learning foreign languages at such an early age. When I was in Germany over the summer, I met 11-year-olds who spoke English far better than I could speak German.

    Thanks

but really, translating lyrics is very simple and easy when compared to actually speaking and understanding spoken German.

but anyway, thanks again, for the help and for the kind words. I really do appreciate it.
