Solved: we all know the song ...

we all know the song ... That's all I can remember of the song. It was slow, with "we all know" going up, and "the song (maybe "words" or even "tune") trailing off. I believe it is from the 70's or early 80"s. A male singer I believe.

I would appreciate if anyone knows this song.
