Hi Leonardito I hadn't seen you around here in ages!

"Quedate" means "stay" (in imperative tense)

    Thanks Citlalli,
    you've made my song.

I 've been visiting your site quite often,
however lately I had following problem:
from Lyrics Forum when I click on Spanish lyrics translation
I get there for 3sec. , then come back to Lyrics Forum automaticaly.
    (other translation site are OK.)
I do not know if it is my or your bag.
    p.s.
You hadn't seen me around here in ages,
probably because I was wearing my new sunglasses.
    (I love my sunglasses)
    thanks again for your help.

    Citlalli,
is Laura Fabien using imperative tense ?
I thought she ought to be asking , or " begging "....

Well, it's exactly like in english:

If your lady's about to leave you and you love her madly then you tell her "Stay! Don't go!" which grammatically speaking is imperative, although in reality you're begging her not to go

    Capisci amigo??

    Si, si Citlalli,
grammatically fine, tienes toda la razón ,
    but
    "oh! quedate quedate
hoy no te me vayas como ayer"
maybe the writer should not use imperative ??

Mmhhhh, well, I think the author used imperative simply coz there's no specific tense for this sort of thing and in everyday speech that's how any native speaker would express his feeling and his "request".

The only other possibility I can think of would be using subjunctive introduced by another sentence: Te pido que te quedes , which is fine, although it's a bit longer and it's not as strong as a simple "quedate". "Quedate" implies a "please, please, please" and "te pido que te quedes" is like "I'd like you to stay, but it's up to you"; a somewhat subtle but vital difference if you're about to lose someone you love
