When That Mill Whistle Used To Blow

    Verse:
He said tell me ‘bout the rodeo and how you won that belt buckle
‘bout cattle drives, cowboy fights and layin’ ’neath the stars at night
He said ‘tell me ‘bout your forty-four, ‘bout ‘ridin’ on the back of your favorite horse
‘bout rustlers, and Jessie James and how you stopped him from robbin’ that train

    Pre-Chorus:

As I tucked ‘em into bed I said let me tell you a real story instead’

    Chorus:
When I was your age every Saturday we’d see a double feature matinee
We’d play hide-and-seek in all the stores on Main Street
A comic book was a quarter a Coke was a Dime
We got Buffalo Nickels in change every time
We’d buy penny candy for the walk on home
That was back when that Mill Whistle used to blow

    Verse:

As he was driftin’ off to sleep he opened one eye and said to me
Daddy when the whistle blew what did all the people do
Did they go fishin’ like you and me and catch tadpoles down by the creek’
How’d did’ it sound was it loud could you hear it all the way to Jimmy’s
    house’

    Pre-Chorus:
I knew he never heard this one before
So I said son let me tell you a little more

    Chorus:
When I your age every Sunday we took an afternoon ride in daddy’s Chevrolet
We’d have a family picnic out at Logan Lake
A comic book was a quarter a Coke was a Dime
We got Buffalo Nickels in change every time
Life was good and time moved so slow
That was back when that Mill Whistle used to blow

    Bridge:

By the end he was fast asleep
As I closed his door I couldn’t help but think

    Chorus:
When I his age every Saturday we’d see a double feature matinee
We’d play hide-and-seek in all the stores on Main Street
A comic book was a quarter a Coke was a Dime
We got Buffalo Nickels in change every time
We’d buy penny candy for the walk on home
That was back, oh that was back
Oh that was back when that Mill Whistle used to blow

I hate Country and anything that even remotely sounds like country, but I like the rhythm and rhyming scheme.

i like this song, very unique, it's probably will be famous for a country song someday, i would love to hear this in a MV.
Damning Reficul: Song is like singing from the light whilst the emotions can be so raw from the darkness.
