Yes, Macedonian folk songs are really beautiful:-)
Maybe are more difficult for translating
, since the attention is more on the traditional rhythm and the words are some old ones, that have remained just in the songs of this kind and while translating may not make sense:-) Anyway I did my best
Here it is:
More sokol pie
More sokol pie
Voda na Vardarot.
Jane,Jane le belo grlo
Jane,Jane le krotko jagne.
More oj sokole,
Ti junacko pile.
Jane,Jane le belo grlo
Jane,Jane le krotko jagne.
More neli vide
Junak da pomine,
Junak da pomine,
S’devet luti rani.
Jane,Jane le belo grlo,
Jane,Jane le krotko jagne.
Junak da pomine
S’devet luti rani,
S’devet luti rani,
Site kurshumlii.
Jane,Jane le belo grlo
Jane,Jane le krotko jagne

A falcon is drinking
A falcon is drinking
water in the River of Vardar
Jane, Jane the white gullet
Jane, Jane the gentle lamb
Oh you falcon
you brave bird
Jane, Jane the white gullet
Jane, Jane the gentle lamb
Haven't you seen
a brave man to pass by
a brave man to pass by
with nine sharp wounds?
Jane, Jane the white gullet
Jane, Jane the gentle lamb
A Brave man to pass by
a brave man to pass by
with nine sharp wounds
all from gun shoots
Jane, Jane the white gullet
Jane, Jane the gentle lamb
And the tenth wound
stabbed with knife
Jane, Jane the white gullet
Jane, Jane the gentle lamb
*More, oj, le, are exclamations which are often used in these folk songs so I guess no logical translation for them:-)
*Jane is name- the name of the hero in this song:-)
*White gullet like a phrase meaning he was kind and polite in speech
*Gentle lamb- that he was innocent and gentle person
In another thread another member asked me to offer as well some songs of this kind so I sent some links. If you like you may check them as well. Enjoy
