    Default Doris Dragovic

Hello, I would like to ask someone to translate this song of Doris Dragovic, which I like very much. Thank you.

    Hej Jugosloveni

Niko ne smije u tebe da dirne
    zemljo moja najdraza na svijetu
    medje tvoje da ostanu mirne
    k'o sokoli bicemo u letu

    Ref. 2x
    Hej, Jugosloveni
    nek' se cuje glas
    mi smo slicni stijeni
    jer bratstvo spaja nas

Niko ne smije tebe da razdvaja
plavo more macem se ne sijece
    krv junaka odavno nas spaja
    i niko nas pokoriti nece

    Ref. 2x

    Docekati navikli smo davno
    prijatelja, a i mrskog vraga
    mi zivimo i ginemo slavno
sve za tebe zemljo moja draga

    Ref. 3x

    Hey Yugoslavians

    Nobody can touch you
my country, dearest in the world
    your borders to remain peaceful
    we will fly like hawks

    Ref. 2x
    Hey Yugoslavians
    may the voice be heard
    we are like a stone
    because brotherhood is connecting us

    Nobody can separate you
blue sea can't be cut with knife
heroes blood is connecting us since long ago
    and nobody will conquer us

    Chorus 2x

We've, long ago, got used to greeting
a friend, as well as a sea devil
we live and die in fame
all for you my dear country

    Chorus 3x

Hey, thanks for translating, I hope I didn't offend you or anyone, but I simply am a bit nostalgic of what was a great country...and because of that, I like a few songs that are dedicated to Jugoslavia Hope no one gets mad at me for this...

nobody is allowed to get mad about it lol

the smilie i used is because i couldn't resist ...cause it's hard to imagine that Doris sang such a song..
Other than that, I suppose my nostalgia goes as far that I refuse to admit that I live in any country other than Neverland (that recognizes no border) lol

Ah...I don't know what kind of songs Doris Dragovic usually sings, I found this one on Youtube by chance I really like ex-Jugoslav "oldies" if I can call them like that.

If I think better, I wouldn't call my feeling exactly "nostalgia", because I was too young to understand what was going on across the border, I would call it "fondness" and a certain soft spot for the Serbians, that most of the people who live here in Timisoara have
Ironically, I've never been to Serbia (or any of the Jugoslav countries), even though it's so close to us. And by the way...I'm a boy ) not that I have anything against the "girl power" smilie )

    haha
well.. I couldn't find a more appropriate smilie LOL

There's lots of such songs .. good example: Lepa Brena (ft Vlado Kalember) -Jugoslovenka

I know Jugoslovenka, it's my personal favourite perhaps I'm going to ask for a translation in another thread of course. And then there's Zivela Jugoslavia by the same Lepa Brena, and Ladarice - Jugoslavio
