Default SOLVED: female singer, pop song, "love-a-love-a-love"?

I filmed some friends while sitting in a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Washington state last year, on 10-31-09, and I'd love to identify the song playing in the background. I posted the video here...

    http://www.simnia.com/music/to_liste...091031_KFC.MPG

The song sounds like a pop song, the vocalist is female, and it's in 4/4 meter.

The song is difficult to hear in the background of the above video, but here's an outline of what the lyrics sound like to me...

(uncertain words are preceded by "?" and options are separated by "/")

    (? love-a-love-a-love, love-a-love-a-love
    (? love-a-love-a-love, love-a-love-a-love
?when ?you/?come ?drown/?drone/?don't/?down ?and/?want say you love me
    (? if my ?heart's/?heart an open ?petal/?pedal/?hand
    ?gonna/when-?I think about each ?other
(? ?you/?I ?think,/?stay close my eyes and smile
    (? ?you-can/?it-goes bet ?it's/?your/?you're ?so/?thoughts/?thought's ?simple/?bepo
(? little darling ?tell ?me ?more
    ?i-am/?darling ?flattered ?sure-as/?sugar ?nate/?natal/?nathal
    ?love-a-love
    (? if ?you-ride-up/?you-write-up/?you're-riding on the ?wind/?wing
    (? if you ?ride/?write/?rice ?upon/?on-what ?my-stage/?I-say
    if you ?wanna ??love ??me--

    SOME SONGS IT IS NOT:

    Anything You Want (Jason Mraz)
The Birds They Put In Cages (Tina Arena & Garou)
Daydream Vacation (Asya Smoosh / Head Like a Kite)
Cheaters Never Prosper (A Dull Science)
    Drown (Smashing Pumpkins)
    It's so Simple (Saosin)
    Love Affair (Berry)
    Love Love Love (Tristan Prettyman)
The Love of My Man (Theola Kilgore)
    Many Of Horror (Biffy Clyro)
    Rush You (Baby Animals)
    Too Far Gone (Dolly Parton)
    True (Susan Tedeschi)

SOME OTHER SONGS THAT WERE PLAYED AT THE SAME PLACE AND TIME:

These should give you a good idea of the genre of music that was playing there that day (mostly pop songs only a few years old)...

    1, 2, 3, 4 (Plain White T's, 2009)
So Far Away (Dire Straits, 1985)
    Time (Ben Folds, 2005)
    The Climb (Miley Cyrus, 2009)
The One Who Loves You the Most (Brett Dennon, 2006)

I've put a lot of time into this via Google search, but with no good results yet. The main problem is I can't quite hear any line unambiguously enough to get a large enough span of certain words to search on. If anybody can interpret one of the lyrics better than I can, that would probably be the best help (other than immediately recognizing it, of course).

My phone instantly recognized it (well, a certain part of it). Does that count?

Courtney Jaye - Love Song For Everyone http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/watc...eature=related

You might know her for the song "Can't Behave" from the movie 'Aquamarine'.

    Cool

here's a mp3 conversion of the mp2 audio track embedded within the MPEG video, ought to make life a tad easier:

    http://www.zshare.net/audio/823345163f447d29/

    0:22 - 0:40 could be remotely like:

    Every drama's (??)
    open heart and open hand
    wanna think about each time
(?) ... close my eyes and smile
Like a best friend ought to say:
"You've been trying to slip away"
I am flattered - it should make up

    ...

toward the end of the snippet, it could be
"We've been riding on a wave"
or "If we're riding on a wave"
or even "As we ride upon the waves"

finally it could be "every wrath's (?) upon our sails", since you can "ride upon the waves" in a sailboat, too, can't you!

    Though...
Consider that it might as well be plain nonsense that I've gotten from it

That's it! Awesome! OK, what do I owe you? A month of helping other people on this site? Thanks so much. My first posting here, and somebody nails the ID in a single post. Impressive. It's a pretty nice song, and starts to get more intense as it progresses.

Here's a YouTube video of the song recorded by somebody else, which humorously was also taken in what looks like the sound system of a restaurant. The sound part in my video doesn't occur until about half way through the following video...

I saw the movie "Aquamarine" but I don't remember that song or artist. I didn't understand your comment about your phone recognizing it.

I found the lyrics online here, among other places...

    COURTNEY JAYE LYRICS

    "Love Song (For Everyone)"

    It overtakes me
    It levitates me
And lifts me up so high
    It makes me wonder
    It pulls me under
    And gives me butterflies

    Now I'm surrounded
    Now I'm awake
    I can be sure

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

    Sorrow shook me
    Love overlooked me
    For the longest time
    But the fog is lifted
    The clouds have drifted
    My heart is open wide

    I don't know your story
    I don't know your name
    But I know I'm sure

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

    I wish that I could
    Tell you I would
    Slow down and commit
But the world is so big
And full of life you can't hold in
And I have so much to give

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love,
I'm in love, I'm in love, with everyone

    Every strong and steady man
    Open heart and open hands
One I think about each time
It makes me close my eyes and smile
Like a best friend or savior
One who is on his best behavior
    Firecracker troublemaker
    You know who you are

    Every rider on the waves
Every rock star I have saved
    Every boy
    who loves his girl
    Every person in the world

    I'm in love.

You were absolutely right about the "waves" reference. Thanks for the conversion to audio, and for all your work. I think this song is going to really grow on me, so I'm going to have to get a copy.

I have this V Cast Song ID feature on my cellphone that identifies songs. Very handy for hard-to-understand recordings... Yes, you found the same YouTube video I did. In fact it was the only place I could find the "full" song (there's still a minute or so at the beginning missing so there's another reason to buy the song).
