Default Is there anybody who would like to write lyrics for a band?

Hello, my name is Ben and I am a songwriter who writes music to lyrics. With music I'm very strong but good lyrics are just not my strong point. I have a project called Memorial Beach - http://www.memorialbeachmusic.com (this link goes outside odesk.com) (this link goes outside odesk.com)/ It is a band and in the past we have done lots of gigs in the UK and also done records that industry professionals have heard because some of our members are reasonably well connected. I am also a producer so all the recordings you hear on the site were done by me.

Basically, we’re looking for someone who can help us (or me, rather) with lyrics. We have a forum at - http://forum.memorialbeachmusic.com/index.php?board=3.0 (this link goes outside odesk.com) (this link goes outside odesk.com) We make a lot of demos, which we send out to our fans every month via the newsletter so if you submit any lyrics and we like them then we will make a demo of that song and we will send it to a bunch of people and lots of people will hear your stuff. If the recorded song turns out to be really good, we will record it on our next album and of course you will get songwriting credits for that. I’m not too fussy about royalties so if they are generated from any record sales of your song you’ll get 50% so matter if it was one line of lyrics you gave us or a whole song, but there are more details about that stuff on our website. I have worked with lyricists a few years ago and it went well but have lost touch with the two I was mainly working with so this is my effort to get back to collaboration with other artists.

    Dear Ben,

I write lyrics and am looking for composers to collaborate with.

To give you an idea of what I can do please go to the following links and you will see some results of my collaborations with other composers -

"My big little girl" - http://present.musicxray.com/xrays/26164/public
    "Invisible Man" - http://present.musicxray.com/xrays/26320/public

and at the same time I attach a couple of my lyrics for your attention -

    Give me a chance
    © 2009 Roderick Macdonald

    Verse 1
She asked me to dance, I couldn’t refuse,
I didn’t ask her, she made the first move,
It was difficult for me, you gotta understand,
It’s not easy to say no when a woman asks a man.

    Chorus
It was no big deal, Baby, only one dance,
But I know how you feel, Baby, so give me a chance,
To tell you I want you,
To tell you I love you,
    Why don’t you see,
You’re the whole world to me,
Don’t let such a little thing spoil our romance

    Verse 2
When we danced I could feel your eyes fixed on me,
Eyes full of hate and cold jealousy,
And I knew when I saw the look on your face
That the fires in your heart were starting to blaze.

    Verse 3
And the next thing I knew was you headed for the door,
So I ran up to you, to beg, to implore,
To give me a chance, to let me explain,
But all that I got was a look of disdain.

    Chorus
It was no big deal, Baby, only one dance,
But I know how you feel, Baby, so give me a chance,
To tell you I want you,
To tell you I love you,
    Why don’t you see,
You’re the whole world to me,
Don’t let such a little thing spoil our romance.

    It had to be
    © 2010 Roderick Macdonald

    Verse 1
I didn’t intend it in this way
That I should ever hear you say
Goodbye, good luck, we’ve reached the end,
From now on we are only friends,
But looking back, I clearly see
That this is how it had to be.

    Chorus It had to be,
    It had to be,
    Looking back I clearly see,
That this is the way it had to be.

    Verse 2
    It wasn’t very long ago
That every day you tried to show
Your love for me, but, unforeseen,
The flames of love began to dim,
And looking back, I clearly see
That this is how it had to be.

Bridge From the time that we are small,
We learn things age, we learn things pall,
So when fate stepped in, took you from me
It was the way it had to be.

    Chorus It had to be,
    It had to be,
    Looking back I clearly see,
That this is the way it had to be.

    Verse 3
Although it’s true the past is gone
My love for you still lingers on,
Why did you have to drift away
    Consign our love to yesterday,
But looking back, I clearly see,
That this is how it had to be.

    Chorus It had to be,
    It had to be,
    Looking back I clearly see,
That this is the way it had to be.

I look forward to your reply at

    Best wishes,
    Roderick

This could be interesting... would you want us to write our own, or would you give us some sort of topic to write about?

I wouldn't bother, if you have any kind of opinion i wouldn't join that site! They want it kept "positive" so basically if you speak the truth about someone elses work the site owner deletes your comment(s)! so no one gets any real feed back its all two faced an lots of sucking up hoping the owner makes a demo of your lyrics an put's it in his site news-letter that nobody listens to...

Tho at the end of the day its your choice...
