Question SOLVED: Help naming/finding a song

    Hi All

I have a couple of lines of a song going around in my head and have tried both Google and Youtube without success. I was wondering if anybody here would know the name of this song and maybe the artist.

What (I think) I remember of the lyrics go like

2am in the morning and he hasn't found a friend, so on his way back home alone, tonight he'll do it again.

4 hot cups of coffee, light up another smoke, play a special request, tell them another joke. Hey there all night lovers, I hope everything's alright, there's a world of lonely people and daylight's not in sight

If anybody could help with this I would very much appreciate it.

    Anybody know this song, please??

If it's any further help I think the song is from the late 70's or early 80's and was sung by a male singer.

i think it's the song Promise Me

    You light up another cigarette
    And I pour the wine
It’s four o’clock in the morning
And it’s starting to get light
Now I’m right where I want to be
    Losing track of time
But I wish that it was still last night
You look like you’re in another world
But I can read your mind
How can you be so far away
    Lying by my side
When I go away I’ll miss you
And I will be thinking of you
Every night and day just ...

Promise me you’ll wait for me
’cos I’ll be saving all my love for you
And I will be home soon
Promise me you’ll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
And I’ll be home, I’ll be home soon

When I go away I’ll miss you
And I will be thinking of you
Every night and day just ...

Promise me you’ll wait for me
’cos I’ll be saving all my love for you
And I will be home soon
Promise me you’ll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
And I’ll be home, I’ll be home soon

Promise me you’ll wait for me
’cos I’ll be saving all my love for you
And I will be home soon
Promise me you’ll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
And I’ll be home, I’ll be home soon

    Hi pianjo

Thank you for the input, but unfortunately the song you listed is not the right one

The few lyrics that I remember and that I quoted in my OP are definitely in the song. I seem to remember that the "4 hot cups of coffee... part being repeated a few times through the song, so this is possibly the chorus.

I'm Irish, so would have heard this on the radio over here when I was younger, as I said I think around late 70's or early 80's.

Not sure how these few words came back into my head recently, but I have been Googleing like a mad person and looking on Youtube, but alas, no luck so far.

Thanks again for your response and suggestion.

I have to bump this as I think I have been trying to recall the same song for over 25 years. I used to hear it played on vinyl at my uncle's house in the 1980s. I can clearly remember the melody as well. This song exists. Can't believe the internet can't cough it up!

It's not. Midnight in the Morning is correct.
