Pedro y Pablo eran hermanos
y amigos inseparables,
quedaron abandonados
cuando murieron sus padres,
Pedro, el mayor, se decia
que a Pablo nada le falte Pedro and Pablo were brothers
and inseparable friends,
they were left on their own
when their parents died,
Pedro, the older one, said to himself:
"don't let Pablo be in need"
Pedro habló con entereza:
"tienes que seguir la escuela,
tienes muy buena cabeza,
yo me voy aunque nos duela;
yo trabajo y tú estudias,
al cabo que el tiempo vuela" Pedro spoke with determination:
"You have to keep on studying,
you're very smart,
I'll leave even though it hurts;
I'll work and you'll study,
at the end of the day, time flies by"
Pedro se fue para el norte
y cruzó pa’l otro lado,
dijo a su novia Leticia
"ahi te lo dejo encargado",
y al transcurso de los años
Pablo se hizo licenciado Pedro left for the north
and crossed to the other side (of the border),
he told his girlfriend Leticia:
"I leave you in charge of him",
and as the years went by
Pablo got his degree
*Pedro ¡qué gusto de verte!
-supe que eras licenciado
*no sé cómo agradecerte
-no me agradezcas hermano
*quiero decirte una cosa
-habla te estoy escuchando
*conocerás a mi esposa
-es lo que estoy esperando *Pedro, how nice to see you!
-I heard you've got your degree
*I don't know how to thank you
-don't thank me brother
*I want to tell you something
-speak up, I'm listening
*you'll meet my wife
-that's what I'm hoping
Gracias Señor
que has permitido realizar su vida a mi hermano querido,
hoy sé que mi esfuerzo no fue en vano,
ya podré ser feliz
con la mujer que tanto amo Thank you my Lord
for having let my beloved brother fulfill his dreams,
today I know my effort wasn't in vain,
and now I can be happy
with the woman I love so much
*Esta es mi esposa Leticia
-creo que ya nos conocemos
*se te borró la sonrisa
-es que me vino un recuerdo
*¿vas a quedarte en la casa?
-eso yo nunca podria
*Pedro ¿qué es lo que te pasa?
-es que lloro de alegria *This is my wife Leticia
-I think we already know each other
*your smile faded away
-it's because a memory came to my mind
*are you staying at our place?
-I could never do that
*Pedro, what's wrong?
-I'm only crying of joy
No es que Pablo fuera malo
o que no supo apreciar
el sacrificio de hermano
que Pedro supo brindar,
de Leticia mejor ni hablo,
ella sí se portó mal It's not that Pablo were bad
or that he didn't know how to appreciate
the fraternal sacrifice
offered by Pedro;
about Leticia, I'd better say nothing,
she did wrong
