Gerade mal ein Jahr ist es her, dass Lord Of The Lost ihr Debut „Fears“ veröffentlichten. Nun steht mit „Antagony“ in wenigen Wochen ihr zweites Werk in den Regalen.
Über die Bandgeschichte haben wir bereits einiges berichtet (siehe Links rechts). Ende 2010 entschloss sich Gitarrist Sensai zum Ausstieg aus persönlichen Gründen.
Leider stehen uns für dieses Review nur nach 2:30min ausgefadete Songs zur Verfügung (und meine Laptopboxen sind furchtbar). Dass ich es trotzdem auf mich nehme, spricht eindeutig für die Band.
„Ein tiefgründiges Konzept über den Konflikt zwischen menschlichen Abgründen und religiösen Reinheitsvorgaben“ wird versprochen. Es geht um Versuchungen, Drogen, Pornographie – und das 'reine Leben' und dem Widerstehen dieser Versuchungen auf der anderen Seite.

Aber nun zu dem, was ich zu hören bekomme:
Epischer Industrial Gothic ertönt, tief gestimmte Gitarren hinter einer noch tieferen, melancholischen Stimme. Düstere Töne erklingen, und dennoch ist sehr viel Spaß mit der Sache verbunden und die Melodien bieten eine gewisse Eingängigkeit, nicht nur durch die den Sound untermalenden Keyboards. Klar und deutlich artikuliert Chris die Texte und verführt damit schnell zum Mitsingen. Aber mal so richtig ins Mikro kreischen kann er auch und dies bringt eine gelungene Abwechslung in die Stücke, denn auch Metal und Einflüsse aus Glam und sehr viel Sex lassen sich heraus hören.
Es donnert, es dröhnt – und das liegt nicht nur ein meiner Hardware. Etwas lauter kommen die Gitarrenwände noch besser herüber, die Rhythmusabteilung ballert dabei und für einen vollen Sound ist gesorgt.
Geneigten Konzertgängern werden einige der Songs bereits bekannt vorkommen, denn teils sind diese schon vorgestellt worden, „Prison“ oder „Epiphany“ beispielsweise.
Die erste Single „Sex On Legs“ wird am 18. März 2011 gleichzeitig mit dem vor wenigen Tagen in Hamburg abgedrehten Video veröffentlicht. Dies wird einen guten Vorgeschmack zu dem bieten, was keine zwei Wochen später in langer Version in den Läden stehen wird.

Konzept hin oder her, im Ganzen (denke ich jedenfalls) lässt sich die Scheibe gut hören, aber auch einzelne Songs rocken richtig und können aus der Gesamtheit herausgerissen gehört werden. Widerspricht dem Thema der Scheibe nicht einmal.
Mein Lieblingssong: „Undead Or Alive“

Einiges ist geschehen, seit Chris „The Lord“ Harms 2008 sein „eigenes Ding“ mit Lord Of The Lost ins Leben rief. Wie oben bereits erwähnt, geht bei Lord Of The Lost alles scheinbar ganz einfach von der Hand. Kürzlich kündigten sie via facebook an, dass sie bereits an ihrem dritten Album arbeiten.
Zuvor sind sie jedoch noch mit Mono Inc auf Tour. Einige Daten sind bereits ausverkauft, andere wie Hamburg beispielsweise wurden in größere Hallen verschoben. Seht zu, dass ihr euch noch ein Ticket sichert!

It's barely been a year that Lord Of The Lost released their debut "Fears". Now in a couple of weeks their second album "Antagony" will be available in the record stores.
We've already reported a lot of things about the band's history (see links at the right side). At the end of 2010 the gitarrist Sensai quit the band because of personal reasons. Unfortunately so far we've only got a 2:30 minutes faded song to write this review (an the speakers of my laptop are awful). That I endure this anyways is a good sign for the band's quality.
"A prodound concept about the conflict between humanly abyss and religious hygiene regulations" is what they promise. It's about temptations, drugs, pornography - and the "pure life" und withstanding these temptations on the other side.

But now this is about what I hear:
Epical Industrial Gothic resounds, deeply tuned guitars behind an even deeper, melancholic voice. Dark tunes sound, but still a lot of fun is related to the thing and the melodies are kind of catchy, not only because of the keyboards in the background. Chris sings the lyrics clearly and distinctly and fast he seduces you to sing along. But he can also scream into the mic at full power and that's what brings diversion to the songs, since you can also hear influences from Metal, glam and a lot of sex.
It booms, it roars - and that's not only because of my hardware. A little louder the guitar sounds show even more to advantage, the rhythm department shakes and you'll enjoy the full sound.

Regular concert visitors will already know some of the songs because some of them have already been played there, "Prison" or "Epiphany" for example.
The first single "Sex On Legs" will be released on 18th of March 2011 at the same time with the video which has recently been shot in Hamburg. This will give you a good foretast for what's to be in stores in about two weeks as a longer version.

Aside the concept, the whole thing sounds good (at least that's what I think), but also several songs sound really good and can be heard seperately. That doesn't even contradict the theme of the record.
My favotire song: "Undead Or Alive"

A lot has happened since Chris "The Lord" Harms started his "own thing" with Lord Of the Lost in 2008. As mentioned above, everything seems to come along easily for Lord Of the Lost. Shortly they reported via Facebook that they are already working on their third album.
But at first they'll be on tour with Mono Inc. Some dates have alerady been solt out, others like Hamburg for example have been shifted to bigger halls. I advice you to get your own tickets soon!
