I wrote this song in my head this morning whilst in the shower, but I couldn't remember my clever words for the pre-chorus
The backing for this is actually nearly done. It's in G major and makes full use of the unexpected D sharp for C minor chords.

[Verse]
Who's gonna be there after that last phone call?
When my troubled mind needs a rest,
Will you stay after the day,
You open my heart and there's nothing left
[Pre-Chorus]
I can't keep this up any longer,
So I have to ask
[Chorus]
Would you still love me if I stopped writing songs?
Would you still hold my hand if I forgot to sing along?
I don't wanna be the one who always has to put on a show,
But I just can't bring myself to let go,
So I guess you'll never know,
The real me
[Verse]
Remember the days before we were friends?
When I just acted like myself,
I didn't have to try to fit in,
Or please anybody else
[Pre-Chorus]
I can't keep this up any longer,
So I have to ask
[Chorus]
Would you still love me if I stopped writing songs?
Would you still hold my hand if I forgot to sing along?
I don't wanna be the one who always has to put on a show,
But I just can't bring myself to let go,
So I guess you'll never know,
The real me
[Bridge]
I don't want no money,
When I've got my friends,
But now this house is empty,
This nightmare never ends
[Chorus]
Would you still love me if I stopped writing songs?
Would you still hold my hand if I forgot to sing along?
I don't wanna be the one who always has to put on a show,
But I just can't bring myself to let go,
So I guess you'll never know,
The real me
