2 funky soul songs

i am searching for two songs..! i heard them today on the radio, the funny thing is that i heard the title of the first one, probably wrong though...

so the first is: you don't know from smooth and tired! what's wrong here is the band or artist. 'you don't know' is definitely the correct title! male voice.

the second is of the same genre. there was a female voice singing: "don't turn your back on me so bad". uptempo. it's not santana's black magic woman, not from guano apes, not from hall and oats.
