    Hi, again it's me,
today I listened to a very energetic new song from Sam Obernik:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edqNEmxMChQ

I can discern only fragments of the lyrics maybe one fourth, so please help me not to remain in ignorance.

I've been saved by a freak of gravity,
I've been rearranged by space and tragedy,
    I'll be a living effigy,
Until you've had enough of me,
Ashes to ashes, dust to destiny.

Hold on to the edge of the earth.

Somebody best me, that the future is messing it up,
So come rise up inside undecided and nobody gets hurt,
Now come on hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on to the edge.

Utilise, the future lies, on the edge of the earth.

I'm sure seenohearno can rectify any mistakes.

Thanks again Mixalopoulos, later tonight I will listen closely to it, having the lyrics it is a totally different thing otherwise I feel uneasy.
As for seenohearno, I feel myself being kind of insolent to ask for more help, he/she did me a triple favor already.

This is what this site is for, and I'm sure they won't mind in the slightest.

    Destiny...
Somebody blessed me but the future is messing me up...

Last night while listening to this lively song many thoughts popped up so I decided to write them down:

I am not of those who overestimate (or underestimate) the importance (as a predeterminative force) of the name (personal/maternal/paternal/family).
Along with destiny, A (not THE) major predeterminative force, I believe that each soul creates its own MIX of destiny and personal-choices, and as a result a name.
In other words: the choice is (partially) yours, thus, the outcome is enforced (mainly but not entirely) by destiny.
The above three statements were reinforced by a genuine Bulgarian seeress: Вангелия widely known as Ванга R.I.P. - one extremely highly revered by me Human-Being.
Many (far much many not) people in my country still look at her as a weirdo or rather witch.
But here is the truth: she (in her own words) is a martyr, simply because extra sensitiveness like hers INFLICTS pain and torment ON HER mostly, in one hand and in the other, she always DID speak her mind (calibrated to see part-of-the-unseen) - an unforgivable virtue.
In this world there is a thin line (if any) between being blessed and being cursed.
Being torn between polarities and remaining a genuine entity boosts one's dynamism up to the sky: that is why I praise so highly persons like Ванга and Sam.

And how perfectly the name stands for the life lived: Ванга - one who brings blest messages.
Evangelos was the messenger who brought good news, because “ev-” means good, and angelos (the Greek word for angel) , means the bearer of news, the messenger.
Female Version of name Evangelos: Evangelia
    Source: http://www.greek-names.info/evangelos/
bless: [Middle English blessen, from Old English blētsian, to consecrate; see bhel-3 in Indo-European roots.]
angel: [Middle English, from Old English engel, or Old French angele both from Late Latin angelus, from Late Greek angelos, from Greek, messenger.]

In one video-interview Sam Obernik was being asked about the origin/etymology of her name, and her answer was that life itself is complicated enough and she has no clue.
Of course I cannot pass by such a semi-important pseudo-problem.

Being a fan of hers, here is my dummy attempt to regain the truth:

    [
    Oberon
    n.

    1. The king of the fairies and husband of Titania in medieval folklore.
    2. The satellite of Uranus that is 15th in distance from the planet.

[French, from Old French Auberon, of Germanic origin; see albho- in Indo-European roots.]

    albho-
    White.
Derivatives include elf, oaf, and albino.

    1. Possibly Germanic *albiz, *albaz, elf, if meaning "white ghostly apparition."

    a. ELF, from Old English ζlf, elf;
    b. OAF, from Old Norse alfr, elf;
    c. OBERON, from Old French Auberon, from a source akin to Old High German Alberich.

    2. ELFIN, from Old English -elfen, elf, possibly from Germanic *albinjō.
    3. ABELE, ALB, ALBEDO, ALBESCENT, ALBINO, ALBITE, ALBUM, ALBUMEN, AUBADE, AUBURN; DAUB, from Latin albus, white.

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition.
    ]

And running one of my dumpers utilizing 'Gamera' corpus in search for pattern *obernik* the resultant (only 5) hits are:
1: [Bernhard Blumenkranz] OBERNIK, JUDAH (d.
2: Moses, Judah Obernik s pupil, made abundant use of this notebook in his work Leket Yosher (ed.
3: Among them were many luminaries of Haskalah literature: Salomon *Loewensohn, Samson *Bloch, Samuel *Romanelli, Judah Leib ben Ze ev, Meir Obernik, and others.
4: See Court Jews Obernai (France), 15:368 Obernik, Judah, 15:368 Obey, Andr , 15:289 Objective Criteria of Recovery from Neuropsychiatric Disorders (Eissler), 6:278 Objectivists, 15:442 Oblations.
5: Roobernik, well known in Society, is spending the summer at Atlantic City.

Obviously 'Obernik' is a rare-enough even unfathomable word, all-in-all, the mystery remains unsolved.

The 'Jewish family names and their origins: an etymological dictionary' states only the origin area: Obernigk, Silesia.
It turns out that the name has nothing to do with jews but with Slavs.
In my opinion the most-likely possible scenario: In Slavic languages (or more precisely Bulgarian, Serbian, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Old Russian languages) 'Obernigk' is derived from 'Oborniki' which is derived from 'O bor' which in west and east Slavic means PINE FOREST, while in south Slavic just PINE.

    [

"Oborniki was first documented in a note calling for Obora to pay a tithe to the Bishopric of Wrocław in 1305."
Look just at the flag of the Obernigk city: Wikipedia states that it is a PINE tree.

Yesterday on one musical site I saw a fabulous photo of hers: she has got the look of a fairy.
In my view she lives up to this name and she is before(not after) all from Ireland - land of the fairies - not for no reason.

    Joy!

I felt the spirit right away, but having the RIGHT lyrics makes me joyous.
A dense vocal (as always) with strong and playful text.
    I love the verse:
Shut up and give some love
Reminds me the superhit 'Stereo Flo'.

    As for my errorful hearing:
'Somebody blessed me but the future is messing me up... '
I knew that instead of 'me' she sings 'it' but I think (this time) the error is not an error at all.

How much I do want to hear this song in a surround sound LOUDLY.
EDIT: I spotted a typo: 'I been burned ...' becomes 'I've been burned ...' WRONG it is 'I been burned ...'

    Many thanks seenohearno, again.

"I been burned" is correct in these lyrics, it's bad slang again.

    Ouch,
thanks Mixalopoulos for correcting my stupid attempt to interfere: it is almost impossible for me to hear shortened 'ds, 'ves, here I thought that the pause between 'I' and 'been' was not empty, again I was wrong.

Thanks again seenohearno for (Radio Edit) version, I like (Original Mix) even more and again Sam Obernik disarmed me with:
I was vain but I ain’t no la liar
Fell from grace but for the grace of God go a
word to the wild in the Neon sky

Destiny is testing me and the stakes get higher

I have no idea what is behind bolded verses, maybe some people see something abusive, as far as I can see she is playing with cutting edges while expressing how hard is to be bona-fide in this crazy world, she can do it, I know that.
    A great song, hypocrisy/liars are under bona-fide fire, he-he.

It's actually: "Fell from grace but for the grace of God go I"

She pronounces the "I" at the end to make it rhyme with "Liar"
