Who am I to write a song
To tell the world where I belong
Lyrics of the past to view
Fail to say something new

So instead I'll try to find
A way that I can clear my mind
Focus on the thought at hand
Instead of lyrics for a band

I tell you that I love you most
And do not think that is a boast
Just try to understand
I've never felt like this before
But this I feel inside my core
Yet none of it was planned

The word is just overused
Said to even those abused
I need a different strategy
It doesn't tell you just how rare
A gift it is to know you care
Which I find a tragedy

So in these lines I will explain
How you took away the pain
And brought me back from Hell
Simply looking in your eye
Locked in a stare as the world flies by
You take away my shell

No longer hiding myself inside
Fear is turning into pride
I have only you to thank
For just three short months ago

Why my life had been so blank
