There is a nice song by Shakira called "The One" but it's not really directed toward a mother but it may still be okay

You've Got a friend...James Taylor. Sure to make her heart melt into thousands of tiny pools. She'll love it, espically b/c it's from her generation.

There is a good one by Dave Berry called "Mama" 1966.

"Who's the one who tied your shoes when you were young,
And knew just when to come and see what you had done,
    Mama, Oh Mama,
And who's the one who patched your eye and told you not to cry
'cause he was too big for you to try,
    Mama, My Mama.

And who's the one you didn't need to plead
To give her time to the Little League
    Twas Mama, my Mama,
And who's the one who gave her shoulder
When you told her your first love was over, she'd found someone older,
    Mama, my Mama.

And who's the one who taught you obligation, then dedication, result graduation
    Mama my Mama.
And who's the one who showed your friends you've known
A home away from home, when they were tired and all alone.
    Mama, my Mama.

And who's the one who held the tears inside,
When you introduced your future bride,
and who's the one who didn't mean to cry
As you walked down the aisle, the tears you saw her smile.
    Twas Mama, my Mama.
    Mama my Mama.

Hey does anyone pay attention to the dates the first thread was posted?? It says 8/8/2006... I think maybe her mom's b-day has passed. And on that note, perhaps in the future, if you're requesting songs for a specific event, you can write the DATE of said event. This way we won't be recomending songs in vain...

SOULstice, Let me first say Welcome Aboard and I like your skills!

But try to remember that Kacey618 isn't the only person with a Mom who has an approaching special b'day. I'm quite sure the contributions by the above posters (including you) was not in vain when you take into account the other users who have a similar situation and read this thread.

Keep up the good work (especially your insightful and constructive reviews of lyrics posted by other users)
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    Smile Two Suggestions

The first is an older song called "Roses for Mama" and is about a birthday...sorry, don't recall the artist.
The second is Josh Groban's "To Where You Are"..a beautiful slow song that is very sentimental.
