Default I was watching Cheech & Chong's Next Movie and heard this song

    Hello

I was watching Cheech & Chong's Next Movie and i heard this song being played while they are driving in a grey 2-seater sports car. A woman drives the car, Chong and Duane Mendoza aka "Red" and another woman are passengers.

Because of a very short duration and background noise it's a bit hard to make out all of the lyrics.

If you have the movie the song starts at 1:00:45 and ends at 1:01:05 when they get out of the car.

I have made an audio clip that can be listened to here: http://www.box.com/s/f252a1b55696222f6a6e
(The car is driving towards you, so the music is faint at first and gets louder the closer the car gets, until it stops and the engine is shut off, that's when the music ends)

I think i can make out what he sings starting at 1:00:45

"Just because you have to hide the money, try and be cool and have all that money" (I could be wrong in the phrasing or wording)

From the music arrangement it sounds like it's an R&B or Rock'n Roll tune from the 70's or early 80's but that is just a wild guess.

Scavenging the net didn't give me any results about artist or song name, no clues in IMDb and lyrics string & keyword searches gave no results.

Hoping that someone on here recognizes the song or have other tools at their disposal to help me solve this one

    EDITED:

Hi Mixalopoulos that link contains the edited version of the movie. Thank you for the effort but it is not the song I'm looking for.

The original uncut movie has a different song

link on Youtube with the original soundtrack, the cutscene containing the song in question is found at 0:58:00 (Link): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Hc7y76Vjf8

    Hello

I see this post has been tagged as solved but i think there might have been some misunderstanding, Mixalopoulos's suggestion was a good one but not the correct one.

Cheech & Chong's Next Movie was made in 2 versions, the song in question is found in the original unedited version.

At 0:58:00 in this Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Hc7y76Vjf8

Default Need help identifying this Cheech & Chong's Next Movie audio clip.

BTW: if you are hearing the song by "Hall & Oates - Rich Girl" (credits Mixalopoulos), you are watching the wrong version of the movie.
There are 2 versions of this movie. The song in question is from the original movie, not the heavily edited TV version.

I have made an audio clip that can be listened to here: http://www.box.com/s/f252a1b55696222f6a6e

Sorry about jumping the gun on this thread being solved. Some of the lyrics I hear are "never mess with me". But I have not had any luck searching for lyrics. Cheech and Chong have written and performed their own material before but your clip does not sound like them.
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    Hi Tiny,
I listened a lot to that clip and here's my take (and yes, i have been known to fabulate...you be the judge and i got no results with this)

The best thing in life is not to have to worry
I'd rather be cool than have all that money

That fits right in with these two pranksters 'at the time projected image' (although they were raking in loads of money just by acting out their crazy ideas). And there's this interesting discussion thread

    Hi BlueNileFan

ty for replying to my post, yep i did a lot of research and my first try was Mark Davis and the performer "killer" anything written or performed by any of those are hard or next to impossible to dig up on the internet, (or perhaps my skill in that department is lacking). The third option was that cheech and chong did the song themselves, but as i listened to the clip it does sound too mainstream to have been made by them, not to discredit their artistic capabilities, but the song performed in the clip from the movie seems to me to have a... sorry to say, "a higher quality" over it to be made by them. Yes the link you posted was probably one of my early discoveries and i did research names mentioned there. In my first posting i judged this song to be from the 70's or early 80's but it does sound more contemporary than that, although it's is hard to place. As the clip i have is very short no songrecognition app/program is capable to recognize the song. So the way i see this song clip being solved is either by someone with extraordinary research capabilities or someone that has actually heard the song and can place it to a band name or artist. Although i could always try contacting Richard "Cheech" Marin or Tommy Chong but i guess reaching them with a silly request like this is a long shot ;p
