    Default Η αγάπη αργεί

    Hi!

The are two greek songs that I know where "Η αγάπη αργεί" is used.

I found an explanation somewhere for Ζουγανέλη's song:
" είναι σαν το τρένο… όσο περισσότερο αργεί τόσο μικραίνει η ελπίδα ότι θα έρθει… όταν έρθει, εσύ δεν είσαι εκεί γιατί ψάχνεις για άλλα δρομολόγια, τα οποία θα σε πάνε στον “ίδιο” προορισμό…"

Does someone have any other words to explain "Η αγάπη αργεί"?

    Thank you

It means- love is late, love comes to you late

    Hi geomac!
    Welcome back

There's no philosophical meaning in "Η αγάπη αργή".
Βut ... there are different meanings that this phrase represents in the songs you provided.

    1st song
Well, zouganeli's explanation is correct. That's what the song is talking about.

"Love is like a train you're waiting ... the longest it takes to come the less the hope of it's arrival ...
so when it does arrive, you are probably already looking for some other which has the same destination"

    2nd song
On the other hand Portokaloglou's song has a deeper meaning.

Even though we translate love as αγάπη,
ιn Greek we use many words about love, or (being more accurate) about "the phases of love".
In the "Δε μας συγχωρώ" case, αγάπη is used as the final part of an affair,
it's the part that concerns more care than passion.

Δεν το καταλάβαμε πόσο αργεί η αγάπη
We didn't realize how long takes for love to show up

Which actually means we didn't realize that it takes some time for understanding the feeling of
    caring for one another.

να δούμε δεν προλάβαμε το τέλος μας αρχή.
so we didn't catch up on watching, our end becoming a beginning.

Which actually means we didn't wait to see our passion transforming into care.

    It's a wonderfull song btw ...

    I think I helped a little.

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

You helped a lot, my friend Thank you!
I started this thread because I liked very much the expression ""Η αγάπη αργή", though I did'n know what exactly this was talking about
Actually, my topic began from Portokaloglou's song, wich is a very good song to me.
    Your explanations are great.
