Murder
I wish I could know what mystery lies,
Quiet and hidden behind your closed eyes,
I wish I could solve the riddle you gave,
In the dismal echo of the last sombre stave,
Dressed up, laid out, and peacefully sleeping,
Not a hint nor a sigh, not a whisper of breathing,
The smile you gave me is lost in the dark,
Hidden and ruined like your loving heart,
Were you scared or afraid? Did you weep or cry?
Did you beg them to stop, did you ask them why?
I don't like to think of you all alone,
I think of you happy and safe in our home,
I'm all dressed up in the colour you hate,
Staring at wood closed tight over your face,
I keep thinking I'll hear you voice again,
Shouting or laughing or playing with friends,
But they took your smile, your voice, from me,
And I swear they will pay, so you can be free,
One day I'll sit silently in our place,
With peace in my heart, a smile on my face,
And all of the answers I could hope to bring,
While your ashes go dancing away on the wind,
"If you were me, then I'd be you, and if I were you, I'd hide somewhere faraway..."
