    Default Sealed with a Kiss

I think I'm going to change the song title to Retreat.

The genre I would imagine this to be would be indie/folk... something similar to Ingrid Michaelson or the Avett Brothers.

    Retreat

    V1

    This goodbye feels unfamiliar
    A sense of early defeat
    This silence begs the question
    Will you miss me?

    V2

    Cast aside self righteous intentions
I crave a dose of honesty
The wall you've put up may push me away
    But, I fear I won't go quietly

    Chorus

So... here's to hoping you'll trust me with your heart
    Here's to unanswered questions
Here's to praying we won't fall apart
    Sealed with a kiss

    V3

The truth of the matter: I find this exhausting
What good can stubborn distance bring?
Sadness has settled behind your brown eyes
    Let's brighten them together

    V4

I'm not the type to place a bet
Fate has yet to earn my trust
But I would bet on you, my darling
    I would bet on us

    Chorus

So... here's to hoping you'll trust me with your heart
    Here's to unanswered questions
Here's to praying we won't fall apart
    Sealed with a kiss

    Outro

Less of a warning and more of a plea
This is my final farewell before my final retreat

Yeah! Definitely "something worth pursuing"! I can't quite peg a style (genre) or cadence for this, but if you know where it's going musically, that's what counts. You've got ability with words and shaping verses. Go for it!

Thank you! I was hoping it would be in the indie/folk genre... something along the lines of Ingrid Michaelson or Avett Brothers. Haven't fully decided yet. Anyway, thanks for your feedback
